Sky sports season tickets?

Fri May 17, 2013 5:12 pm

With sky now advertising pay as you go for its sports channel how long do you think it will be before they offer premiership supporters season tickets to be able to watch all home and away games live of their team for the season.
If it was around £200 for that ticket would you buy one?

It would increase the risk of affecting attendances so I don't think the league would allow it.
The current loophole being exploited is of course foreign satellite channels broadcasting matches, but can't see the league allowing or agreeing to it.

Doesn't one of the Leagues in Europe do an away TV season ticket? You only get to see the away games so that it doesn't affect home attendances.

With the free availability of online streaming of BPL games I'd be very surprised if in the next couple of years, a system similar to that used by Major League Baseball in the USA is brought in where all games are available in HD quality over the internet for a subscription fee.

However, home games are not available to subscribers who's postcode is within a certain distance of the stadium (not sure how many miles) unless the game is officially sold out.

This sounds like a sensible option to me. I just think sky will look at more ways to make money from their product over the next few years and this does seem the most feasible to me.
