MALKY "My Job Is Here At Cardiff City And I Like It"

Thu May 16, 2013 9:17 pm

Malky is now 33/1 in the bookies.

"It's certainly very flattering to be linked to a job like that but I've got something that we've built and we're really looking forward to coming into the Premier League."

Malky insists he is concentrating on his job at Cardiff City.

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay speaks out on Everton FC links: 'My job and my focus is here at Bluebirds'
17 May 2013

Cardiff City boss Mackay says he is fully focused on a busy summer ahead as Cardiff City build a squad for the Premier League

Malky Mackay has brushed aside reports stating Everton want him as their new manager by insisting his focus is on Cardiff City in the Premier League.

The Bluebirds boss refused to categorically rule out taking over from David Moyes when questioned on the matter by Match of the Day’s Gary Lineker.

But Mackay insists the Everton link, while flattering, is what he dubs ‘media talk.’

He is working hard to strengthen his Bluebirds team ahead of the looming Premier League campaign, with Everton still having made no official contact with Cardiff for permission to talk to Mackay.

The City manager has plummeted down the betting for the Goodison post, with Wigan’s Roberto Martinez and Celtic’s Neil Lennon ahead of him in the pecking order.

Asked about the speculation by the Echo, Mackay replied: “My job is here at Cardiff City and I like it.

“My focus is on Cardiff City and that has not changed.

“It’s an exciting time for everybody in and around the club and we are focused on next season.

“My recruitment team is in the most frenzied three months of the year in terms of identifying potential signings and we are working flat out to ensure we are ready.”

Mackay talked about his plans to bring in at least ‘four or five’ new players for City’s first season at Premier League level, saying: “We are looking everywhere, far and wide, gathering information and ensuring we are up to speed in every way possible.

“It’s certainly very flattering to be linked to such a job like that (Everton) but I’ve got something that we’ve built and we’re really looking forward to coming into the Premier League.

“I’ve got an awful lot of hard work over the summer.”

Mackay has been at the centre of plans for him to lead a City delegation, including players Mark Hudson and Craig Bellamy plus staff and directors, on a week long visit to Malaysia next month.

He has also planned a pre-season training trip to Switzerland in mid-July.

Mackay also had one-to-one talks with his City stars yesterday and issued the club’s retained list.

Five senior players are out of contract at the end of June and will be released. They are Heidar Helguson, Stephen McPhail, Nat Jarvis, Jesse Darko and goalkeeper Elliot Parish.

Right-back Kevin McNaughton has been offered a new deal and Mackay said: “We would like to keep Kevin, it’s his decision.”

More or les said the same on match of the day, but didn't rule himself out just in case. I think he may now as he has probably worked out he is just a back up plan in case Martinez or others turn it down......

8 years now. If ever there was an indication that time moves on so quickly, this is it.

He wouldn't forgive me if I didn't bring the rebrand into this thread. He'd have hated it with a passion

Give him credit Nukes.

If he dodges the question people say he must be going. If he suggests he's staying people think he's been snubbed. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

That's the world we live in i'm afraid. I would not have blamed him if he did go as i doubt he has true feelings for this club like we do. But we need someone that will 100% stay for the coming season. So its the good of the Club to know if its Malky building the team or someone else is going to. Not good if Malky brings in players then fooks off ! it would be loose loose for CCFC :malky:

This is the biggest issue with the manager rumour mill, how it affects team building. We had a head start on most clubs when it came to planning for next season and all that could be for nowt should we have to change managers.
