Wits - simple question

Wed May 15, 2013 9:58 pm

Will he start or not on the first day of the season. Don't be swayed just by the end of season selection. I say he definitely will irrespective of new players joining. So - yes or no? :ayatollah:

It's a yes from me, I don't think we'll be shopping for any CM's this summer.

Yes. After a good summer's rest he'll be back to his true form and will be a big player for us next season.

No.
Wits will have to get used to the bench I think, especially if we bring in some more quality into the midfield. IMO if Wits was premier league class he would already be there.

teams have already tried to take him to premier league and we rejected them past 3 seasons.

HELL YES he will start alongside gunner and kim imo

Simple answer,yes.

Its a no brainer for me he keeps possession of the ball better than anyone in the squad and we will need that in the PL. You give the ball away in the PL and it takes a lot longer to get it back than it does in the championship.

And naive.....

Don't you think it will greatly depend on who we are playing and which tactics are required?

YES

If we can get in a solid target man I would even put him on the left wing pinging in crosses for fun to try and grab goals. Barton is not a fast player and never has been but Newcastle put him on the right and he was one of the main reasons Carroll scored so many goals at Newcastle. If used correctly Whittingham could be useful on the wing to switch the style of play if a shake up is needed. People think of the wing and think of pace being a must but it isn't. Just stick him there, work him into space to deliver a ball and once the ball is in the box and there are players attacking it anything can happen.

I'd go 4-2-3-1 next season with Whittingham LAM so he can go wide with it. Gunnarsson sitting in front of the back four with another good passer and someone with a good work rate. Bellamy possibly CF doing the Rooney role and also coming back to help out. Hopefully another winger or RAM on the other side and then a target man.

Might be boring and not good footy but points are what matter. Shut up shop by sitting 2 CDM's in front of the back four and try and steal the game from a set play or counter attack. West Brom do something similar and because of Long's pace and Lukaku's power it means they can break effectively and punish teams now and then. Sometimes they get a hammering but this is the PL now. We have to expect it.
