Question for people who go training

Wed May 15, 2013 10:44 am

We've recently done the protein shake debate to death but do anyone take other 'legal' tablets to help with their training..?

Ive been recently tried this for about two months: http://menslifeandhealth.net/muscle/ind ... fferset=20 (together with protein drinks I must add) and even through it was ok I was wondering if there are better things out there.

Feedback would be very grateful

Most of them protein shakes and supplements are a load of bollox. Just eat the right food, and Read charlie bronsons solitary workout book! That's how you get fit Lol protein shakes are only useful if you've had a long bout of illness and you lost a lot of weight, anorexia for instance. Or yor in the gym everyday. Someone lasy like you will just get fat... Jokes

Protein is scientifically proven to build muscle. A protein shake contains 25-30 grams of protein so they do help in building muscle. If you have 3 protein shakes a day that's up to 90 grams of protein without any other protein intake with your food.
Why do bodybuilder a eat so many eggs? Because they are rich in protein.

Like I said... If yor in the gym everyday... A "bodybuilder". You can do a decent job and look good without spending daft money on shakes etc just buy eating the right food and regular workouts

Exactly^ unless you are a dedicated body builder, athlete who can never replace the protein you burn off just by eating, then I don't see the point in all these fancy milkshakes etc

They don't waste their money on shakes because they are on steroids! You won't meet any professional rugby player not on protein shakes.... There is something in it. I am not taking anything away from diet tho as this is the most crucial thing.

I have just started on some supplements this week and I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes until 3/4 weeks and as long as I can keep my diet the same as I have for the last 3 weeks. I have amino acids and some shredding stuff which are both sci mx as I am intrigued as I haven't tried this stuff before. I am very dubious to the results. I will say I have felt a bit weird today and unfortunately some reviews had said that for the first week. :(

Burning your protein off... You use carbs for energy! And if you don't eat carbs your body will use fat... Then if you don't have any carbs or fats in your body then you will burn protein.

Also about men's health... Don't think what they say is golden, some of the things in the mags are good info but the abs things are usually... Well... Bull. There are obv more factors to take into account than what they say.

Professional rugby player..."PROFESSIONAL" lol there training is intense, todays modern rugby player is all about bulk.. Extreme bulk which they probably couldn't maintain with just eating the right food, and an extreme training regime. Of course they need supplements. My point is, if yor going to the gym just to tone up and get yorself fit, then why bother with all these supplements that promise to turn you into the incredible hulk in just 8weeks etc when you can go over tesco and chose food that will be just as good  if yor serious about pumping iron and are dedicated to it, then yeah.. Supplements are the way to go, but if yor going over the gym and spending most of yor time watching irenes butt-cheeks as she rides the exercise bike then surly you don't need supplements, just the right diet? No?

I agree with you to the point where if average joe wants to go and get fitter and in a slightly better shape then I would say just eat a bit healthier and exercise regularly. But if you want to try and bulk up and get bigger and then still try losing the extra few pounds you can not seem to budge then I am all in for trying supplements after you research them. Supplements should only come after the diet has been sorted and you have tried that for a while. If you want an 8 week fix then try some steroids because no supplements or training regime or diet will get good bulking or toning results.
