Malky openly quoted a 5k second tier expansion on a BBC interview today.

Is it right it would take 6-8 weeks to add a few thousand more seats, im sure i was told this during the legends game but with it being a few years now i cant remember the full conversation i had with one of the contractors.

Can I ask where may this extra tier go if/when it is added? Would it be added onto the grandstand(like brightons stadium) or would it be added onto the ninian stand opposite?

We already have 2 tiers in the Grandstand, no room for 3 like Brighton's. My guess is another tier above the Ninian.

When I asked a certain higher up at the club last week, his reply was
"I can't give too much away, but Vincent is an impatient man"
How good would it be to open the new season in front of 30,000 plus

I can see it happening, im sure i was told a few thousand could be added to the capacity within 8 weeks.

8 weeks! I'd love that to happen!

How many seats are currently up in he second tier of the grandstand? Would the extra tier on the ninian(if thats where itll go) be of similar stature?

it will probably be different to the grandstand as they incorporated a large area within the stand for hospitality and boxes! probably be a bit bigger!

Not surprising.
Vincent Tan is a shrewd businessman and although superstitious he will know money is wasted if there is no expansion this season.
He may look stupid but in terms of business pedigree hes the complete opposite of a mug. You dont get to his level in the business world without knowing the game inside out.
All the season tickets gone, a waiting list, etc. surely an expansion is a must. Its the only thing that makes sense. Especially considering it is likely this first season in the PL we will peak in terms of attendees as its the first season then crowds may start to plateau.
To not capitalise on that boom would be a business disaster and im sure Tan knows it. It will be interesting to see how much adding it would cost and how much it would generate in extra revenue if full to see how long it will pay back.

When the guy told me, he said something about the wall at the back of the stands being removed and a few extra rows added, i think thats what he told me anyway, i was pissed at the time though.

Im still convinced about the few thousand being added within 8 weeks.

Question for those who know.
Does any work have to be completed before the season start?
For example, if we started the expansion but didn't finish in time could we start the season whilst sectioning off the construction area or would it have to be done before the first game?
Just interested to know as I will admit I have no clue whatsoever on such an issue.

Any reason why the 'CARDIFF' along the Ninian Stand was moved up a few rows a couple of weeks back? I remember people saying on here about it. Could be something to do that the writing wouldn't look out of place with another tier on top, evened it out a bit like.

Very good point actually Rhys.

isnt the concourses etc already there to add a 2nd tier all the way around ,another 10 rows 2nd tier around the 3 sides of the stadium to take it up to 35k ?

I remember a few years ago United expanding Old Trafford while the season was going on so I can't see it being a problem

I have walked around the back of the Ninian Stand in the void and there is already a concrete concourse space there.
However, if they are talking about an 8 week turnaround they will be putting forward a continuation the the current tier with extra rows at the back.
This will be very much different to a 2nd tier which would require removal of that part of the roof and the 2nd tier dropped in then the roof replaced, that would take much longer.
Hope this, extra rows, quick fix is not instead of future plans for a 2nd tier.

Thought it was cause of the away stand?

They moved the last F to the left and made it smaller to make room for the away end, but don't see why they'd move it a couple of rows up?

Just made this post on the other thread:
Highly unlikely there'll be extra rows added right up to the back like Reading's. Look at where I highlighted in the picture below, if you knock that wall down and build up to the back you would have all the steel girders obstructing the view of those sitting in the new seats, take those girders out and the roof will be straight down.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
