Target Man

Tue May 14, 2013 10:43 am

We could really do with a target man up front to play alongside the likes of Campbell & Maynard.

Some possibilities - Deeney, Austin or Hooper of Celtic.

Will be interesting to see who MM goes for. :ayatollah:

As quality of a player he is, I just dont see it happening. He is a Champions League quality player and Im sure many clubs playing in Europe will want him, and many more established Premier League clubs.

I think someone of the Gomis mold should be our target. Strong, pacey and knows where the goal is rather than a target man like Crouch who lacks pace and power.

both a good shout...

finbogason is being tipped by van basten who quoted "I put Finnbogason in the category of strikers like Ruud van Nistelrooy, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Jon Dahl Tomasson,"

Heerenveen reportedly value Finnbogason in the £5million bracket and he has two years left on his contract. he is being watched by everton, west ham sunderland and villa...

I spend a bit of time in the Lyon area every year and I've seen Gomis play a few times for Olympique Lyonnais. Excellent player, a bit like Drogba in his style of play. Can play up front on his own or with another striker playing just behind him. Would be perfect with Campbell or Maynard.
Lyon want to unload him to cut their wage bill and Gomis wants to move on to get a more lucrative contract. Probably get him for about £5 million. Reputed to be earning in the region of £30,000 a week at Lyon. He will be 28years of age in August so obviously looking for a big contract before his career ends. Got a feeling we might miss out on this one but you never know!

Gunnarsson could have an impact if we was ever chasing the guy from Eredvise.

Also Gomis would be quality here.

Could try and get Nick Blackman from Reading. Big young lad with a good left foot, up and coming.
Would be good to have him, He'll do a better job than Rudy aswell.

Totally agree with this. Feel free to bring this post back up but i really cannot see us signing Gomis. Like BlueDragons said, he is Champions league standard. Wouldn't suprise me if someone in the top 5 sign him in the summer.

Got to think of his wages and they need to sell, if we move quick then chances would be good.
