loyalty - Is there such thing in football

Mon May 13, 2013 6:42 am

Is there such a word in football and why do city fans think we always have managers/players who love the club, i get amazed when i see the word loyal put out on here by fans over a player or of late malky. The truth is in 99% of cases in the football world THERE IS NO SUCH THING when it boils down to money, its just a job ladder you climb untill your at the highest level that matches your ability :ayatollah:

Agreed but why not just be honest in Malkys case and say yes im interested in the job dont feed us the bullshit on match of the day and then giggle, its not funny to most fans it came accross as dissrespectful to our fans to me and I cant look upon him in the same light anymore as I said in an earlier thread hes just one more in a long line of football mercenaries

What light is it you looked at him before lastnight then? because ive never looked at him anything other than a manager for us who would move on if the moneys rite, the same way i look at every single player we have :ayatollah:

Lets be honest here and admit we knew we would not get an answer last night.

Whatever happens, lets hope it is done quickly so our club can move on with or without Malky as this summer is so important and we need to be ready come August.

I agree there is very little loyalty in football and with every passing year it gets worse.

Bill Kenwright who many would consider an old fashioned Club Chairman was clearly very emotional when Moyes was saying his goodbye to the Everton faithful yesterday. Both these men are, in my opinion, the perfect examples of loyalty in the game but still when the right job came up David Moyes couldn't resist taking the opportunity.

In the case of MM I really don't know what our fans expect of him when asked about this Everton job. In my opinion his answer on MOTD was the right one and for us knowing he is concentrating on his job with Cardiff City should be enough.

The thing is with all of this is that MM may well be only 10 games from the sack, it may sound stupid but if we get off to a poor start will VT remain loyal to MM. The same can of course be said IF Malkay was offered and took the Everton job because would Kenwright offer the new manager the same loyalty as he did Moyes. Kenwright is clearly hurting and may not have the stomach to support a manager who doesn't fill the very big void Moyes leaves at Everton.

All we can hope is that this is settled very quickly and IF we are to get a new manager that it happens as soon as possible to allow the maximum time to prepare for next season.

I suppose the big question is where will MM be given the most time, shown the most loyalty by his Club Chairman and fans, I think it will be with us. I wonder what MM really thinks. :?

Bill Kenright is looking to sell the club, probably now Moyes as gone may do it sooner than later.Whoever takes the Everton job now, could well be on his way once Everton as new owners.Because there is no loyalty in football.

It's a ladder you climb until you get sacked.

Quitting a club (big if) after bringing staff, players etc in isn't professional. It's the norm but certainly not professional.

What if EFC offer him the job and state you are not bringing all your staff with you? What happens to staff at CCFC when a new manager comes in?

I would say Whittingham is quite loyal. Settled down in where he lives and enjoys playing for us.

Many knew Malky wouldn't give an answer last night and were waiting for it because they knew it would give them something to moan about. Its that obvious. Some fans just couldn't wait to moan and call Malky disloyal and say hes going to Everton and so on. They love the drama and now the football season is over for us they are missing it so purposely looking out for things to make mountains out of molehills. He was never going to say either way and 99% of our fans knew it. The ones who are moaning knew it as well. Either that or they must be incredibly stupid. You listen to all offers first, consider each and make your choice. You dont make your choice before hearing all offers just as you shouldn't choose what party to vote for before hearing each parties manifesto. If you do you are an idiot.

Lower league football is more loyal, look at players like Andy Legg etc

I don't think it's a football thing more of a job thing. Most people are looking for a better job, better paid job and football is no different.

No, not at all...

I know some fans who retired because we changed shirt colour.

Loyalty is a dirty word.
