Which of the teams in the Premier League do you think we have a real chance of finishing above next season, obviously either Wigan, Villa or Sunderland will go down and either Watford, Brighton or Palace will come up to complete the teams in the league.
It goes without saying that Hull and one other from the Championship will be two of the teams but who else can we be challenging in a mini-league within a league.
Southampton, West Ham, Norwich maybe ?
Sun May 12, 2013 7:15 pm
Villa should get better. They are a young team who have now experienced a season together, although they will do well to keep hold of Benteke.
Norwich and the two other promoted sides are teams we could finish above. Stoke seem to be getting worse too. Sunderland have underperformed in my opinion.
Sun May 12, 2013 7:23 pm
Hull,Watford/Brighton,stoke,norwich and maybe Sunderland, that be good enough to avoid the drop, fingers crossed.
Saying that mind I am basing that on us signing key players in key areas, with our present team we will get relegated.
Sun May 12, 2013 7:24 pm
Hull
Brighton/Palace/Watford
Villa/Wigan
Sunderland
Norwich
Southampton
Newcastle
West Ham
Fulham
Stoke
Swansea (I think the Europa League will derail them)
We can easily finish above these teams, but we won't finish above all of them. I reckon we'll finish 14th/15th

If Sunderland stay up I would expect Di Canio to change the team a lot.
Norwich have done pretty well in the PL to be fair.
I believe it is going to be extremely tough and a lot tougher than some people expect.
On the bus to Hull last week, one of our regulars was adamant we could get 20 wins
I nearly told the driver to pull over and kick the lunatic out
Sun May 12, 2013 7:26 pm
Fulham finishing the season in terrible form, 1 point from 6 games. Hope they carry it through to next season
Sun May 12, 2013 7:27 pm
If there is significant investment in the squad and the new signings hit the ground running,I think we are capable of finishing above any of the sides below seventh place from this season's table. I'm sure we can comfortably finish above Hull, Play-off winners, Norwich, Stoke and Sunderland (Assuming they don't get relegated).
Sun May 12, 2013 7:31 pm
We can potentially finish ahead of any of 12 teams.
The top 7 are completely out of reach except for a lucky season or massive investment.
I think there's at least 3 from those 12 we can get ahead of.
Sun May 12, 2013 7:34 pm
With some good additions I am confident we can finish above the two teams that come up from the championship. That leaves with 1 other. Feck knows who that will be tho. Fulham, Norwich, Southampton, Sunderland ??!!

going into Europe will be a poison chalice for the jacks. If Malky stays and we keep that team work ethik I think we may shock a few and get a top 10 finish which will give us a good foundation to build upon

Love the optimism but its difficult to make predictions before the sides do their summer business. ML has already said he wants 5or 6new players if those are top quality and settle in well then we should be fine but if they dont come off it could be hard work. The pl is hard work despite what some on here seem to think and you need a bit of quality to break sides down and mistakes are pounced on time after time. The other thing is dont right off the play off winners they have a habit in recent years of finishing the highest placed promoted team where as recent champions haven't fared quite so well.

Today's result aside, Norwich have been distinctly average of late and I don't believe they have the finances to add much to their team over the summer.

We should finish above Everton next season as long as Malky doesn't go there!

This will apply to your squad as well
I can't see Ashley williams at the liberty in August Brenda will want him to replace carragher and arsenal are also very keen. He will be hard to replace

You really will be in for a shock in August. You really do think life in the Premier League will be easy for you and that you can realistically expect to finish above a club who look set to finish 8th this season - because apparently an additional 4-10 games will completely change us from the best of the rest in the Premier League to finishing below you.
The sort of players that some of you genuinely think you'll be able to bring in baffles me, the likes of Lescott, Kolo Toure, Andrei Arshavin, Brede Hangeland, Ryan Giggs and Romelu Lukaku have all been mentioned. Once again you'll be in for a shock when your unable to bring in a super star, as although yes you are a Premier League team your realistically looking at being able to attract players of a similar quality to the likes of Hull.

We signed Kim as a Championship Club. He's class, you think your the only team in the "rest" category as you put it that can sign decent players.
Some of the names getting bandied about are laughable I agree but silly season has started remember!
Swansea, the best of the rest!

You make it sound like you've peaked!

He's done well in the Championship, as he should be doing at £2 million. There's a big difference between the expectation of a player for £2 million in the Championship and the Premier League, in the Championship you'd expect a £2 million player to be one of your star players and to be winning your games, in the Premier League it's not considered a waste of money for most teams to spend that on a player who spends most of his time on the bench. For £2 million we've brought in Michu, the bargain of the season and Chico, a rock for us at the back and a very good defender in the Premier League. Any team in the rest category can sign decent players, if they spend the right amount of money on them, but nobody can get anywhere near the transfer business we did this season. The three big money sales have turned out to be flops (Allen, Sinclair, Graham) and we've managed to bring in three of the bargains of the season (Michu - £2 million, Chico - £2 million, De Guzman - loan).
We haven't peaked, we can still improve and European football is something that can allow us to do that, but realistically there's the top 7 and there's the rest of the division and it looks like we'll finish top of the rest.
