The championship wasn't that strong this season, Cardiff won it at a canter in the end. You can only beat what is in front of you!

I can't recall a team more "ready" for Prem football than us in the past few years though. (Excluding Newcastle/West Ham as they've been predominantly premiership clubs anyway)

Agreed. Whilst the PL has been amazingly good, as witnessed by the teams that have won the cups, the failure of English teams in the champs league and Man U romping the title despite most agreeing that they have been average by their standards.
