If it was to happen then its just the sign of the times, look at Man City, Arsenal and Man utd training ground name, at the end of the day if it creates revenue then thats the way it goes.

It would be an embrassment towards us because we are basically turning in to a Malaysian club based in wales

As soon as the deal is finalised with Tan and Sam, yes the Stadium will have a name.

Tbh I don't think sam should have a place on the board but if thats the only way to clear the debt we have to bite the bullet because he almost made us go bust :l

Well if you can think another way the club a can raise revenue then im sure they will be eager to listen, as ive already said money talks in this day and age especially with regards to football, Man City are the best example and i would love to have some of their success.

Ive seen us through the shit times and now its the big time, agree with me or not its either shit or bust thats the way modern day football has gone and we are a part of that. You either have big backers and create revenue from external sources or the club fails to survive simple really. :ayatollah:

Sign of the times in football and it no more makes us Malaysian than it makes Arsenal or Man City seem Emarati.

Out of interest, what is the point in SH having the rights to the payment for naming rights if he has no say over what naming rights are accepted?

If you've got a spare £9m to give the club then you can call it whatever you want.

You sound like a bit of an attention seeker. Maybe next time you could start a reasoned debate about the sale of the stadium naming rights rather than just taking a cheap shot at the club.

Mike, Yes Sam has the naming rights, but when the deal is completed VT will have the naming rights.

They can rename it what they like, if you don't like the name keep referring to it as the cardiff city stadium or ninian park or whatever title you use now. How many geordies used the term sports direct arena? Not many I bet.
It's only a money making scheme. It doesn't have to affect us. It's been the Cardiff city stadium for 4 years now, I'm not gonna start calling it something else.

No problem with the stadium being renamed and sponsored, as prev posts have said its a sign of the times and a good source of revenue. Just a little bit worried about what the name is changed 2! Hope it's nothing as ridiculous as some of the other changes that have gone on at the club.

Annis, this Jamie123 is just another one taking a cheap shot, stadia around the world have names but I would suspect that fans around the world don't say i'm going to the Nou camp, Stadium of Light, etc. etc. whatever it gets called we would all still say ' I'm off to watch the footie' or 'I'm off down the city'

who really gives a feck what it called as long as it creates money to aid the team with this new Fair Play rules in place. :ayatollah:

Eastlands, Ashburton Grove?

Ettihad and Emirates you've heard of them though yeah!!!.

I'd rather a name to our stadium for example The Cosway Stadium rather than cardiff city stadium sounds crap. Hopefully the name malaysia isn't in it though

Totally agree with you. :ayatollah:
This new stadium has never really had a name.

If you combine Hammam and Malaya you arrive at Hamalaya but would Cardiff fans feel on top of the world?

I'll get me coat.

But seriously, if the ground is to be named after a sponsor it needs to the something world class, something that embodies excellence such as Rolls Royce and not something small or silly like The Simply Sausages Racetrack (Donnington).

Im amazed its taken to long to get a sponsor for the stadium.

No doubt Ridsdale would have sold it to one of his mates for £1 a season for 100 seasons if he could have.

I dont care what the Stadium is called, its not Ninian Park so I dont really have an attachment to it yet as we have only been there a few seasons

Wouldn't surprise me if it was the Ricoh Arena or something once the Coventry City Stadium deal ends.
