CITY: NO APPROACH MADE FOR MALKY

Fri May 10, 2013 5:43 pm

Cardiff City have insisted Malky Mackay is planning for the Bluebirds’ Premier League future amid mounting talk of a formal Everton move for their highly-rated manager.

The Bluebirds hierarchy insist NO approach has yet been made with them by Everton and that Mackay spent two hours in London on Friday outlining his transfer targets for the new 2013-14 campaign.

But privately Cardiff bosses will be braced for an Everton swoop, with the odds on Mackay going to Goodison Park plummeting as low as 2/1 with some bookmakers.

Departing Everton boss David Moyes has talked to the media for the first time since his own appointment as Manchester United manager, saying he will help chairman Bill Kenwright look for his successor.

Kenwright insists he wants to find ‘the new Moyes’, with many believing Mackay fits the bill as that man.

There have been radio reports that Everton have already made an approach for Mackay.

But Cardiff maintain that is not the case, saying Mackay was involved in a behind closed doors meeting with them to plan the future.

Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan and chief executive Simon Lim were with Mackay in the discussions.

Lim, speaking exclusively to Media Wales, emerged from the meeting to insist the subject of Everton had not come up.

“We are moving forward with Malky as our manager. We have not had an approach from any club,” said Lim.

“Our meeting lasted several hours, we talked about our plans for next season.

“At no stage did Malky give any indication that he would not be Cardiff City manager going forward.

“We met specifically to discuss next season. We were focused on plans for our football club between today and the start of next season.

“We talked in detail and the meeting lasted several hours. Malky did not give any indication at any stage that things may change.”

Now we need Malky to come out with a statement to say he is only interested in Cardiff City.

The longer it goes without a statement from MM the worse it looks

Laudrup and Lennon have made statements , why not MM rule himself out?

We all know what happens in football and it all still goes on behind the scenes.
I do believe and know Everton want to talk to Malky, as to whether they offer him the job is another matter.

I don't think Malky has to say anything Carl. He was House of Lords yesterday and with tan today so it would have been unlikely he could have been approached.
Best let it run its course and when Everton appoint their new manager Malky can say he was not approached and if he had been he would have never considered leaving us as he felt he had a job to do here.
That scenario leaves everybody happy in my opinion.
Of course he could infact take the Everton post in which case he would be a double headed Scottish tw*t and I would hope Everton got relegated :ayatollah:

But they haven't made 'statements' they are both still in their seasons so had match press conferences where they batted away questions the only way any manager should.

Malky has not been asked the question.
