I would without any hesitation. It's not a supersad post, it's a post from someone who like myself, puts our clubs identity before success. Unfortunately, those who have commented in this thread so far want success at any cost. They may as well support Man Utd if they want to be associated with a successful team. I just want to be associated with my team, whatever the level. That's Cardiff City - The Bluebirds playing in blue!

How on Earth did you come to THAT conclusion, Tonteg Bluebird?

It was yet another post (on top of many) that drags up a debate that is effectively 'dead in the water' in as much as it ain't gonna change whilst VT is in charge

No offence, but you don't speak for anyone other than yourself and you certainly don't know the psyche behind people accepting the red (no matter how reluctantly) as you are not prepared to engage in proper discussion; preferring instead to simply keep stating "put identity before success" (which no one has ever adequately explained)

We haven't 'lost' our identity. In fact, we are now MORE identifiable than we have ever been. And as for 'success at any cost' I suggest you have a little think about that particular comment and then ask yourself "If not to be the best we can, WTF is the point in being in the race?"

You are (I'm pleased to say) in a small minority of people who have convinced themselves that red is the most important issue the club have ever had. Excuse me, but absolute bol***ks! That mantle goes to the very survival of the club itself and a change of shirt colour might well have been the LEAST of our worries ;)

The Bluebirds (that hasn't changed); lucky to be playing at all :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Feck, we couldn't get more than a few thousand in League 2 a few short years ago  :ayatollah:

Is THAT the BEST you can come back with, mate?

A 'reasoned' explanation as to 'why' you think the way you do would have been better. I'd respect that (even if I didn't agree with it :ayatollah:

As it is, I stand by my comment ;) :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

i agree. We have to accept the rebranding for now but some people can't and will never accept it but their opinions have to be respected.

Not being funny mate but if blue is your preferred colour, rather than the actual football team, why don't you support a team in the conference that plays in blue?

It's a colour.....not a club.

Well I do, as many as I possibly can, you cannot criticise fella, I realise you live abroad......

The fact of the matter is we now play in RED, I will never wear red, but I love this club and to an extent will 'go with the flow' for now.

But why do we follow a football team if not for success, do you want your team to lose????? as long as they are in BLUE?

Not being funny mate but would New Zealanders be bothered if their rugby kit was changed from black, Liverpool FC from red, Everton FC from blue, Newcastle United FC from black and white? etc, etc, etc,

Just us that don't associate their club with a colour then... :sad7:

no its not a colour...IT'S OUR CLUB and its colours are blue, the name is Cardiff City and our crest is a Bluebird...

I want OUR football club to be successful, not a red malaysian fc with a plastic crest...

I define identity not just with the name, but by 3 things:
Name: Cardiff City FC
Crest: The Bluebird (as the main feature)
Colours: Blue/White (with yellow trim)

2/3 of our identity has been destroyed

I decided to support Cardiff, not ManUtd, Liverpool, Chelsea etc, so guaranteed success is irrelevant. I wanted us to play in the premiership and do the famous Robin Friday pose and stick the 2 fingers up to the big clubs. Cardiff City, the Bluebirds, have made it through all those shit leagues to the premiership. we did all those shitty trips on a tuesday to sing our hearts out. we did that under OUR CREST, that was OUR CLUB...

I explained it earlier on in another thread:
---------------------

Tan is the reason why I dont go anymore...

I seriously tried to take the changes on board, my first reaction after the rebrand was "no way, this will never be accepted". Was about to book a flight and come over for a protest-march, thought there's going to be mayhem as noone would ever dare to touch our identity. But nothing happened. KCB was launched, but half-hearted and by the wrong guys. Plus they made the wrong calls and got bullied by some who I actually expected to lead the protest.

But as nothing happened, I thought may be I was in the wrong, maybe it could work, giving up your identity as we have given up Ninian...
Just before the season I made the decision, I need to find out myself. So I came over for 2 weeks, watching 4 City games in that period. And driving back from Brighton, I finally knew I could never ever accept the rebrand. This wasnt my club anymore, leaving Ninian was bad, it broke my heart. But seeing us in red with that thing as our crest tore my heart right out of my chest. It didnt feel like City anymore, this was an alien club, just happened to play in Cardiff. A club, I didnt choose to support. The excitement is as big as if I would watch the Cardiff Blues. A Cardiff team, "yeah lets go Taffies..." but that's it...

My last game at Bristol City was like a bad dream. A grey movie in which I am walking alone and feel no soul, no passion, no excitement...and that was what I once loved about the City. Not the success on the pitch, the feeling that this club once gave me.

To boycott the club I once loved to bits, is hard, but it feels worse watching it. Therefore I decided a few months back, I wouldnt watch them anymore. Still a Cardiff fan, but our CCFC not the new red club.

That is my decision, I respect Gwyn and all the others who accept the rebrand. But I demand that ones (like me) who simply cannot accept red and that badge for our club, are treated in the same manner. We put money into our club, we watched the team home and away, on cold tuesday night, on open terraces with rain pi$$ing down. We were there, and to hear from fellow "fans" stuff like: "your not a real fan, you wont be missed...good riddance" is just out of order.

Was I happy about promotion? Yes.
Will I go and watch the team in red in the premiership? Certainly not.

I just hope Tan goes asap and the next guy or guys in charge will give us our identity back. Until then, I am in exile...
