Mental time
Lets go for Messi

I think he would be a good addition. Certainly out of the available strikers, he's one of the few that would offer us something different to what we already have (for example Le Fondre and Remy, who've been mentioned, are similar to Maynard/Campbell - not to say I'd say no to those two, of course).
He is available, and has been playing for relegation candidates this season, so I'd hardly say it's hugely unrealistic. That said, he'd cost nearly half our budget and and wages would likely be huge, so I don't think it'll happen. I can see us getting a big guy in the region of Peter Crouch/Dirk Kuyt, both of whom might be past their best years, but could still offer us something.

I don't think we could get him....BUT of we could he'd be hell of a signing, he'd fit we'll into Malky's methods of play!

He would cost all our budget ! His best mate/mentor/big brother/father figure is the captain of West Ham. Liverpool will want at least 50% of the ridiculous transfer fee back.

Would obviously add but would cost too much and wages would be high.

I was thinking for a season long loan rather than buying out right to start with.
We need a big target man and he fits the bill perfectly.
Wed May 08, 2013 7:36 pm
Realistically would be perfect on a season long loan. If he does come here and is happy and we manage to stay up I see why we can't offer him a contract. We need a target man and I dont think Rudy Gestede will be up for Premier League just as yet. Andy Carrol and Fraizer Campbell would be a great combination. We then have a good backup with Nicky Maynard/Joe Mason/Rudy Gestede.

West Ham owners said they struggled to pay wages for him for the full season on loan, some people need consider the wages for a player hugely.

I've heard £10m, though that was in relation to him moving to West Ham (and apparently they don't have that sort of money to spend, which is why he won't be a Hammer next year). And wages? Regardless of what has been said about spending wisely, I wouldn't be surprised to see us spend big on wages (look at the 30k Bellamy is on for example, and that's when we're still in the Championship). I would far rather us spend like Swansea, but I have a bad feeling our transfer policy - from a monetary point of view - will resemble that of QPR more...

I think he'd be a very useful addition to the team, but I can't realistically see it happening. His wages would be prohibitive.

Just a shit Rudy IMHO FACT.

Nice to see a realistic target being mentioned for a change.

We got more chance of signing andy carrolls hairdresser!! Why would a lad on 70k a week(paper figure), england international sign for us? We couldn't afford his wage or transfer fee!
Can't our fans stick to naming football manager players from the european backwater leagues

Yeah i think it was aronud 28mill from what the papers said.
i doubt 120k is far off what he gets paid. I think we could give him 30% of his wages! I mean he'd be stupid not to want to move to wales and lose 70% of his weekly wage! Thats if he even knows where cardiff is!

Thought it was £35 million?

Good shout but if Liverpool had any sense they would keep hold of him

West ham will probably buy him.
Not 100% but I think under the financial fair play rules coming in this season, Liverpool would have sell him at around 35 million (they cannot make much of a loss)

Well yes they can, but they will have to find a way to make back the money that they lost on the sale.
For example they sell carol for £5million, they will have to find a way of making back the £30 million they lost befor they can make any transfers
At least that's my understanding of part of the FFPrules?

Could be Andy! Liverpool and West Ham set for Carroll talks - but Spurs and Newcastle fancy hitman too -

FFP rules wont matter one bit.
Its widely thought that as soon as it starts properly, the bigger teams will just take them to court, and they will win all day long. the gardian states that a football agent has already lodged a court case against the FFP.
