The team was built around him. He started to wane, a little too late Malky rested him. The youngsters took their chance and were unbeaten while the competition were self destructing. Pete sat on the bench quietly (as if he would do anything else). Lets not forget we got the job done in a canter but with lots of draws. If we really needed to do it Whitts would have started in the three man midfield. Teams did learn how to stop us, the change of tactics rather than personal shocked a lot.

Whitts is going nowhere, lets be honest Kimbo, Gunnar or Mutch at their age may be more of an attractive punt, but we are in the richest league in the world so who are likely to make a bid, the top 6 ? No way.

As for his demeanor, well, he scores some of the most delightful goals and celebrates as if he has lost a tenner.......

Peter has played more games than any other outfield player in recent seasons, and became a bit jaded. Malky made a footballing decision, which paid off. I would be very surprised, and disappointed, if Whitts was no longer part of Malky's plans. He is a top professional, top player, and top bloke. And he's one of us :ayatollah:

I'm expecting Whitts to come back, fully recharged and back to his best after a summer break. :ayatollah:

whitts suffers from fatigue,
he's always had quiet spells, but plays best when he's allowed time to recover, I think he'll be better suited in the premiership rested for cup matches and less games

Midfield is certainly our strongest position. I dont think it would be wrong for me to think that we only need possibly one midfield signing (excluding a winger). Imagine a 3 man midfield rotating through any 3 of the likes of Mutch, Kimbo, Whits, Gunnar and another on that level (i.e a jonathan williams). Not many in the bottom half with a better midfield than that

He'll be fully recharged at the start of next season. Look at his appearances for us since he arrives, especially the past t4 seasons. Add in the two play-off semis and the three finals that we reached in that period losing them all he deserved a break.

The guy has been playing non-stop now for four 46-game seasons (more if you take into account play-off campaigns and cup runs et.); he needed a break.

He'll be back, and better than ever! :ayatollah:

Hope so. Think this extra long break he's gunna have by not playing end of season helps refocus and recharge him. He's earned his crack at the premier league with us. Been a few times he could have left for other clubs apparently, but chose to stay with us :ayatollah:

He'll be here next season and well up in Malky's plans. He was tired and will come back ready to play an important role in the team.
His passing and crosses will be essential to us next year.
Getting in Jonny Williams would be a great move, rotating the midfielders helps to motivate them, and keeps the opposition unsure of what will happen.
