' Fantastic night at the champions dinner '

Tue May 07, 2013 9:54 am

Another superb event at the club. Thousands of pounds raised for the academy throughout the night and it was the last chance for squad and staff to celebrate together before they meet today for the last time before a well deserved break until the end of June. Many highlights of the evening including Malkys speech where he paid tribute to VT but particular homage to TG and Steve Borley for all their devoted work to get us where we are today.
He also gave special mention to Wayne Nash not only for the outstanding parade organisation but his day to day work alongside him.

The main highlight of the night was the goal of the season competition which was won by 18 yr old Thomas Waite of the Cardiff City Down's syndrome'every player counts'squad. He beat everyone else by 640 votes to nil. Earlier on in the auction, Craig Bellamy paid £1,000 for Craig Conways framed shirt from Burnley away. Before Thomas walked off stage with his goal of the season trophy, Craig presented him with the frame. It was a memorable night which culminated in a band and disco on level 4 where the players, wives, staff and fans all partied until the small hours. One striking comment from someone last night was"Whatever Malkys ambition is, Vincent will match it". When I asked about the stadium expansion, the answer was"watch this space. Vincent Tan is becoming impatient already" Time to enjoy our first summer in a while

Which one is you?

It was an excellent night and the players were busy signing autographs, having pictures taken and generally mingling happily with the fans, a real good atmosphere and some inspirational words from all the speakers. It looks like there will be positive news on the training ground very soon listening to what Malky said and he was very impressive throughout his speech. Also seemed happy about the finances being sorted too and the general way in which the club is progressing, I really wish someone had recorded the speeches last night especially the one that Vincent Tan sent to be read out, it was excellent and hopefully will be put on the official site as an official club statement from him. Bellamy was superb and talked about the Liverpool game and his mixed emotions, he was honest and open and showed total respect to the Cardiff players who played in the cup final.
It was a great way to round off a great weekend and a fantastic season for the football club and nice to see you there Lakey

Great to see you too mate. What a weekend. As you say there are too many positives flowing out of this great club at the moment. That sleeping giant is having a good stretch before getting up!

Polo, Tony Soprano isn't the only connected guy around mate ;)

Annis, there was a guy on our table. He works at the Liberty stadium. I won't mention his job title here but we've spoke about him before. Lets just say he's high up there

He said Swansea have realised their capabilities but what Cardiff City have and ahead of them will evaporate anything they're capable of down there. The possibilities are endless

Bring it on

Looked and sounded like a quality night!

The professionalism of our Club keeps on improving, and is great to see!

Surprised if the Stadium Expansion is completed by August!?

Great stuff.

Different world from the '80s and '90s. Mind you, we had some fun then, too.

Wow, that's. an incredible statement. It really is.

We are top 10, recent major trophy in the bank and European qualification. Are you suggesting you can "evaporate that"?

Presumably that means what? Champions league qualification? Top 6? What? It's certainly a bold claim and I'm sure will be bookmarked by many jacks

Black Swan

Do you admit that Cardiff are without doubt a bigger club in Support than the Jacks are now and in the future?

In terms of sheer numbers then on a level playing field Cardiff would get the bigger attendances yes in my opinion. Not by much though 5,000 maybe. I think we could average 26,000 and you could probably average 30,000 - 31,000. But I'd hardly call that "evaporating" what we have got and achieved. £400 X 5000 = £2 million. It's a drop in the ocean at this level.

Do you think you can evaporate what we have achieved in your prem stint annis, honest answer. That's a major trophy, European competition 11th place finish and wherever we finish this years probably 9 th?

Yes I will be honest, in my opinion most fans will be happy just to stay up the first season and if we do, then who really knows what we can achieve from there on.
On the field your players have achieved much more than most Swansea or Cardiff fans could ever have thought you would off and with good football as well.
No one can deny how well you have done.

such a smart arse arnt you? common knowledge we will only expand to 36k and you plan 31k, so yes only 5k more than you but its the bigger picture that is the difference, whilst you can boast a recent cup win good standing in premier! oh musnt forget Europe that's it your club will only ever be a small entity has it always as been, whilst our standing as capital city makes us a far bigger propersition on the European stage also world stage, only have to hear how our promotion is being portrade in media to see how big we could become, but time will tell how much we grow one thing is certain if we do stay up you will certainly be in our shadow again! :malky:

So evaporating what we have done would be what? We are in the Europa league now so Champions league i guess right?

Re: ' Fantastic night at the champions dinner '

Tue May 07, 2013 7:50 pm

Of course we can evaporate anything you've achieved. We're half way there already by gaining our rightful place in the top flight. We got to two major finals in the last 5 years in division two! Are you saying its impossible for us to get to Wembley again?! You did well beating a reserve Liverpool side and a Chelsea squad in transition, but if we played Bradford last year at Wembley then we'd be in the Europa league. A penalty lottery was the unlucky decider for us there

Last night i was sat with one of your most senior staff at the Liberty. Extremely interesting and enlightening conversation  :

PS, what have you done with your other alter egos? :laughing6:

MASSIVE coincidence how we just hear from you nowadays and not them isn't it
