Best of a bad bunch of promoted teams? Or a general belief that we have the manager and structures in place to eventually establish ourselves in the top tier? either way...

How can they make any prediction before the transfer dealings are complete and promotion and relegation have been decided? Seems a pointless exercise to me

yes maybe - but hypothetically, maybe in the case of Cardiff, they believe we have good decision-makers at the club, a great manager and some players who already cut it. Our team have proven that although its not always the best football, we are HARD to beat. 50% is attitude and mindset.
Anyway, pointless or not, its a bit of fun and YOU should be happy

Ill be happy if it comes true, even happier if we're higher up again. But not going to get too excited over premature opinions.
Take out the top 6 or 7 in the PL and I don't think there's too much between teamd. Even the jacks who bleat on how good they are are really only 2 wins from a relegation battle. Fine lines over 38 games so its going to be a close call whatever happens.
But yes our team spirit and work ethic can only serve us well and with a good few wise additions we could be ok. At this stage I don't think we are in any worse position than teams like Norwich, Swansea or Southampton were when they went up. So now it's about who we get in.

Lack of imagination from the pundits. They never predict the promoted teams to do well as they play it safe and play the averages.

Pat Nevin also predicted that QPR would finish 6th this season.

Is that right?! He clearly got confused which league they were playing in this season. 6th in the championship would have been about right

I'd take that

JUST A BIT OF FUN - don't read too much into it.
Fun makes me happy

By 10pm tomorrow evening Newcastle may well be favourites to be relegated, already shorter odds than Sunderland
It's hardly a bad prediction. They just lost 6-1 to Aston Villa and their final game is away to Spurs. They could be in a lot of trouble if they don't beat Stoke tonight.
