Never 10,000

Mon May 06, 2013 8:43 am

The BBC article is quoting 10,000 bluebirds turned up yesterday.

I appreciate that it is an estimate but countless more than that attended in my opinion. My first reaction was 100,000 but that is probably a bit high.

50,000 to 60,000 people?

The journalist should be sacked.

People who cant count shouldn't be allowed anywhere near such a skilled position.

He would be far better suited to being Polo's tea boy. :old:

I think he was estimating the number at the bowl in Roald Dahl plaza.

I'd say there were more down the Bay alone than a normal league match at the CCS.

The report says......

"About 10,000 Cardiff City fans have cheered their team at the end of a day of sunshine celebrations across the city marking their promotion to the Premier League."

That's just the figure for Roald Dahl Plas.

Probably a rugby reporter and to be honest Welsh rugby next year will feel the pressure CCFC, the jacks and now Newport County back in the league will mean fewer supporters at all rugby matches :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Just made an official complaint to the BBC online service.

Your statement in the article entitled "Cardiff City: Thousands cheer players at Championship celebrations in bay" which goes on to say "about 10,000 Cardiff City fans have cheered their team at the end of a day of sunshine celebrations across the city marking their promotion to the Premier League."

The figure of 10,000 used in this article is wholly inaccurate and completely disingenuous to Cardiff City fans, the football club and more importantly the City of Cardiff.. As the total number of people in attendance at the bay was significantly higher than 10,000. I know there was no official figure because it was a public turn up event but for anybody who has experience of being in crowds and was at the event the estimate should have been at least 25,000 people at Cardiff Bay and a conservative figure of 35,000 - 40,000 turned out in total for the City Centre to Cardiff Bay Parade, presentation and Firework display.

It really brings into question the diligence of the BBC to report such an inaccurate figure which one day may be used as an historical source.

I question whether the reporter who wrote this article really was at the event or has experience of estimating event numbers. This is not just a mad ramble from an over excited Cardiff City fan this is a complaint about the accuracy of the report which may influence future historical work relating to the city of Cardiff and the City's football club.

A very disappointed reader of the article in question.

The article said there was 10,000 at the END, not for the whole day.

I was in St Mary St for the start of the parade and imo there was no more than 3 or 4000 there. behind the barriers it was only 3 or 4 deep, the crowd then moved along St Mary St with the bus so it was mostly the same few thousand along the route to the bay. Seemed to me no more than about 15-20000 down the bay.

BBC & the word TRUTH are as far apart as the North & South Pole.......North Pole on planet Earth and South Pole on Jupiter!

If you think the BBC delivers the truth you need to take a long hard look at what actually goes on in this world.
