Ins and outs at CCFC 2013-14

Sun May 05, 2013 11:42 am

Just for a bit of fun and I would like to thank all our players and staff for their efforts this season, exellent team effort

Ins and outs at Cardiff City, trying to be realistic and not putting emotional feelings into the equation, although I won't be too sad to see Kev given one more year as a back up defender.
Just my opinion but I will speculate on a one to ten basis about who I think will stay and who I think will go....1 point being the lowest rating and signifying the MOST likely players to LEAVE, and 10 meaning the most likely to stay in my opinion.I have only rated Kim 6 because he may be tempted away and the club could see a big offer for him?

Marshall 10
Lewis 5
McNaughton 4
Taylor 7
Kiss 4
Lappin 4
Hudson 10
Turner 8
Whittingham 7
Cowie 5
Velikonja 4
Conway 5
Kimbo 6
Smith 4
Gestede 5
Noone 6
Gunnarsson 8
Mutch 8
Mason 7
Ralls 6
Helguson 0
Maynard 10
Campbell 10
Parish 5
Nugent 5
Mcphail 0
Bellamy 10

We need a 25 man squad, plus we can have under 21 players but I think we may have to include some under 21's in the compulsory 25 man squad.
So if my guesses are right and we keep players rated 6 or more we would need to recruit 11 players at least to add to

Marshall 10
Hudson 10
Bellamy 10
Maynard 10
Campbell 10
Gunnarsson 8
Mutch 8
Turner 8
Whittingham 7
Taylor 7
Mason 7
Kimbo 6
Noone 6
Ralls 6
Definitely a third keeper, four possibly 5 defenders, four midfield, 2 strikers which makes 12 but we can drop Ralls to the under 21 category, making it a 25 man squad.
I may be way off the mark but that is my guess anyway.

Harsh on nugent and ettien they will stay just be loaned out
Noone will definatly stay and will be dangerous in the prem with his pace when he's not getting chopped down all the time
I have a bad feeling we may well lose kimbo if a big offer comes in :( depends on what's in his contract we might not have a choice in the decision  hopefully not though

Etien and Nugent could be ok in the under 21 cat...and maybe some of the others could be loaned out too...I am just guessing.

What's interesting and hard to judge when doing these things is how certain players will adapt to a different type of league .
We've seen many players who destroy the championship really struggle in the prem . Huckerby is a perfect example and to a degree Sinclair aswell .
On the other hand we've seen average looking players in the lower leagues absolutely shine in the prem ! Chris Gunter looked great this year to be fair as has grant holt who I didn't think much of in the lower divisions but has really come into his own .
You can never tell until you see them :ayatollah:

Not harsh on Nugent at all. The kid just boots the ball into touch.

he looks awkward, unnatural, i find him ungainly... hes like a rabbit in the headlights at times... young, but he will not be no way good enough for the premier league.. id loan him out...

Also think Ralls is here for the long haul.
