Croat goalie Ivan Turina found dead

REST IN PEACE ... Ivan Turina passed away at home

CROATIAN goalkeeper Ivan Turina has been found dead in his northern Stockholm apartment.
Police were called to the 32-year-old AIK player’s home early this morning and initial reports indicate he died of natural causes.
AIK sports director Bjorn Wesstrom said: “John’s heart stopped beating during the night, unfortunately doctors have not brought him back to life. It is so terrible.”
Police spokesman Patrik Nuss added: “I can confirm that Ivan Turina is dead but there are no suspicions of crime.”
Turina, who joined Swedish club AIK from Dynamo Zagreb, is survived by his wife and two young daughters.

Just shows anything can happen and only 32 :o
I thought all players were meant to have heart checks now ?m

I doubt the heart checks can really do that much.. heart attacks can just happen for a number of reasons in this day now.

Would it be due to the lifestyle choice?

Or is it stress and pressure that comes in professional sport that can do this?

Horrible news. Amongst footballers / athletes, it's usually a condition called Hypercardiomyopathy (shortened to HCOM). Terry Yorath's lad had the same condition and dropped dead at 15 or so. Don't think you'd ever recover from witnessing that.

RIP
