Agree he was the best player, I was lucky enough to see him play at Coventry in the early 70s, Xbox and play station players got feck all on him

Lost all respect for him when he was given a new liver and a new chance but drank like he did before. Someone could have had that liver and and respected it. He selfishly carried on.
He was superb though and played at a time when the ball was shit, the pitch was shit and he got kicked f**k out of by the defenders. Ronaldo and Messi would have struggled back then so hats off to him for that.

George was the most complete footballer of all time.not only was he blessed with more natural ability than anyone i've ever seen he was great in the air,he would tackle back and had more guts than anyone on the field, if you kicked him he just got up and got on with it.Quite honestly if he had played today everyone would be saying Messi who are you?

Agreed, everyone deserves a second chance and George got that. If he stopped drinking he'd still be alive today but he carried on regardless.

I dunno. He looks pretty happy in this photo, Annis
Seriously, he was a fantastic player and although he was a flawed genius I honestly believe (a) we were lucky to only see him at his peak, and (b) that he wouldn't have had it any other way

His greatest quote "I spent all my money on booze, birds and fast cars, the rest I just squandered!" Says a lot about his approach to life really.

Absolute genius who caused a buzz around the stadia of the world whenever he got the ball. Value on today's transfer market when considering marketing power would easily be over 120 million.
