Whats your opinion on resigning Bothroyd

Lets face it hes ten times the player rudy is and hed be cheap has chips, didnt get much premier league time but a good player worth a 2m bid.

Even if he changed his attitude, he reached his peaked two seasons ago and isnt good enough for the prem anymore.

I'd never pay 2 million for Bothroyd.

I honestly would struggle to say that Bothroyd is any better than Gestede!

Had one good season with us, won a cap, got big headed and has come down to earth with a huge bump.

rudy better than bothroyd no chance, rudy ball control is shocking and is passing, hes a good header of the ball and thats it, I remember the whole of cardiffs game revolved around bothroyd, and scored some screamers, the one against qpr comes to mind and when he didnt play we were shit and lost, i reckon if we could get him on the cheap, hed fit in well, great at hold the ball up, good control, good peg on him, and his head was big but he come to earth with a bang when all the big teams laughed at his wages he was asking and went to qpr bench. worse thing if barton came our way wed welcome him but hes a f*cking tool

I do think we need a bothroyd type player to compliment frazier and nicky maynard though but Jays had his time with us.I do wish him all the best though,you cant deny when he was on form he did very well for us

Exactly. He's certainly talented but his attitude lets him down. His effort lets him down time and again, he would be some player if he had a greater work ethic and didnt spend half the game lying on the floor. The problem with Jay is he is good but not half as good as he thinks he is.

The way we played with Jay under DJ suited him down to the ground as our attacking focal point. If he was not playing or off the boil we generally didn't do well. Under MM he would not be the focal point of our attack, as we play to a different system with more talented players. As you can see from his time at QPR and Sheff Wed he is not half as good in such a supporting role, where his work rate and appetite lets him down badly.

yes i did, and i give me opinion , MM was looking for a player to replace bothroyd in helgs and rudy, strong players who could hold up the ball, and it looks like helgs well retire and rudy is no where near premier league at the minute anybody who knows football can tell you that, what other player have we got that can hold up the ball to supply our faster strikers cause i cant think of one

to be fair you make some good points.

He was a fantastic player for us, there is no getting away from that, but only when he wanted to be, after the england cap he went from being amazing, to ok, to average to poor.

he also shit out of the playoff final v blackpool.

part of me would love the good bothroyd back. but its just not going to happen.

also you are right, bothroyd is much better than rudy, but rudy has work ethic and his game has been improving
