Hull City goalkeeper David Stockdale, on loan from Premier League side Fulham, has attempted to rouse his team-mates ahead of their battle against league leaders Cardiff this weekend on the Championship’s last day of the season.
As it stands, the Tigers face a very heated battle to hold on to second place – the other spot that ensures automatic promotion to the Premier League. With Watford just one point below Hull in third place, Stockdale believes his side will have to muster all their strength to ensure they win their match this Saturday.
“It’s time for us to show our character, resilience and courage once again”, Stockdale told Hull’s official site.
“We’ve shown it before. My mind goes back to when we had a really poor performance at Bolton and then came back to beat Birmingham at home. We know we can bounce back after the defeat last weekend and now it’s a case of going out onto the pitch and doing it", the keeper added.
Stockdale has also warned his side not to take Cardiff for granted, saying, "We’re playing Cardiff, who have won the league, and they’ll be wanting to show everybody that they are the best team in the division so we can’t take anything for granted.”
Hull are set to face Malky Mackay’s charges this Saturday at the Kingston Communications Stadium.
