" Helguson to Retire "

Wed May 01, 2013 12:34 pm

Looks like an interview in which Helguson suggests he is retiring. Good luck to him and thanks for a decent season with many goals :ayatollah:

" After fifteen years as a professional footballer Heidar Helguson has returned home to Iceland. "

"You couldnt have wished for a better ending, than to gain promotion. The season went great I think," Helguson told Icelandic media.

Helguson has been feeling the affects of a calf injury the last couple of weeks and could be playing with the help of injection.

"There is no reason for me to play these games. Just let Aron and the boys take care of it."

Helguson started his professional career in Norway aged 22 and has spent the last fourteen years in Britain.

"I have to admit that I have lasted longer playing abroad than I thought I would. It's important if you want to achieve something, especially when you are over thirty, to think very carefully how you want to live your life," said Helguson who has been rumoured to be mulling over seeint out the final stage of his carreer at his boyhood club Throttur Reykjavik this summer.

"The phone hasnt rung yet. I have been left alone," continued Helguson who expects to spend the summer on the gold courses rather on Icelandic football stadiums.

"It's rains a bit in Wales, so I have not played that much."

The most committed centre forward I have ever seen in a City shirt. His goal at home to Hull when he got knocked out is the reason we are going to Hull this Saturday relaxed as Champions. Thank you Heidar! :ayatollah:

Somehow, I don't think that one goal is the only reason we're going to Hull as champions

Came when we needed him, did a great job, missed a few scored a few, but gave his all, in every game, sadly i don't think he would be good enough for the premier, mainly because of his age. Good luck and thanks a great season :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Heidar, a striker I will remember here and a legend in my eyes.

He is leaving on a high.

I personally think if you want to go up you might need a striker like him.

He was key in some games like Ipswich, Blackburn (3 assists), Header vs Hull which I will remember, won't see players commit theirself like that for a header and Forest when he sent us on our way.

Wish him all the best, true professional. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
