Is the Trust the new readers digest?

I cancelled my family membership a few years back and haven't paid a penny since. Yet, i still get letters inviting me to vote in AGM's and stand for election. This must be a total waste of postal charges. As with Readers Digest is it the case that once they've got you they've got you for life?
