If he is getting a place on the board, which seems likely, for all his faults if there's anyone who could get the ear of Vincent Tan and explain to him how important the tradition of blue is to thousands of Cardiff fans, it's him. Tan is even quoted that Sam could"teach him about the game"

Is this the same Sam that was also going to rebrand us if he had his way?

Hardly a threat was it. A few complaints in the Echo put paid to that rumour

Yes but didnt because fans told him to f**k off no way when he asked fans what they thought about it

Tan said in the speech 'we will always play in red at home'. There will be no reversal on the kit colour under his tenure ship. The badge will probably remain the same so thats about it, we're stuck with what we got whilst Tan is in charge. The comment about Sam I believe is in reference to footballing matters on the pitch.

but hamman was the rebrand king ,changing badges ,kit colours ,sam always wanted to unite the welsh people ,welsh army etc i wouldnt be surprise if theres was more to it and sam was part of the rebrand idea last year and it was fully backed by him

My personal thoughts are that we will see Sam take a place as a "football advisor" or some sort.
It's clear to see that Tan has been bitten by the football but though & this now isn't "just" a business to him.

If that's what it takes tony to get him to settle the debt then fair enough but I would expect it to be a non executive position with no voting rights and he won't be allowed near Malky or the playing side.
Sun Apr 28, 2013 5:24 pm
Personally I wouldn't want him near us again, but seeing as that's highly unlikely now and they're on the verge of agreeing terms on the'debt' then he can at least do something constructive with his time here
Sun Apr 28, 2013 5:26 pm
If he does take a director of football role it will probably ruin everything.
IMO, Malky doesn't need it whatsoever and the current, no interference from above, model has worked extremely well.

The good word I had earlier Steve is that a deal is on the cards, but these old rich bastards are all mad and play each other like grand pianos! It's a different world to us normal kin

It's a game of chess to these people mate. Tan won't pay the full amount and Hammam knows that, but there is always compromise and middle ground. I'm sure we'll find out more later. As what damned yank and you've said, I don't think it'll be related to the team or an important role at the club

Can you imagine Sam as director of football tony. Picture the scene he's in malkys office with tan and he turns to them both and says how's the deal for wellbeck going.
Malky says he is in the car park thinking the deal over but it's touch and go at the moment Sam
Sam says to Malky give me 10 minutes and I will seal the deal
Back comes Sam ten minutes later blood dripping from his mouth and nose but with a big smile on his face
Malky says what the feck happened to you
Sam says well Danny didn't take we'll to me slashing all the tyres on his car and forcing sheep testicles into his mouth but once I had tripled your initial offer of 60k a week he was happy to sign.
Malky puts his head in his hands and slumps over his desk and tan bursts into tears mumbling I am a stupid man

A non executive chairman position is about as much as I would give him.
Maybe non executive chiarman & special fans liaison.
Sun Apr 28, 2013 6:13 pm
He can certainly help advise Tan on footballing matters.
Would be great with the fans as well
Just keep him out the boardroom and I'll welcome him back!

Make him El President he loves the power of love from his disciples. The President of a club dont have any powers there more Honorary (no duties attatched no pay ).This way everyone wins he comes back but cant make any money problems.

I just can't see Sam wanting any sort of figurehead only role in the club as his ego is much too big for that.
And a figurehead is about all he should possibly be.
There must be a real chance that if he becomes more "hands-on" at the club there must be a possibility that the harmony created by Malky and his staff would be adversely affected. Would we be going back to bus trips and food laid on for some of the more "tasty" supporters, and mascots banned because the tunnel before a game is not a nice place for kids?
No-one can doubt that Sam started the journey but surely no-one can argue that in the last couple of years when he's been nowhere near the club we've had some of our most enjoyable times following our club.
If he has any part to play in the future PLEASE keep him away from the management, the players, the structure of the club and for Christ's sake, keep him a million miles away from the finances!

Tan does the books, Malky does the football, what's Sam gonna do? I think the only reason Tan is considering this idea (if true) is because Langston gets paid off cheaply. Sams input would be minimal in my opinion.
Sun Apr 28, 2013 7:12 pm
I am Sam would, as he would not be able to help himself and interfere with Malky and the football decisions which could lead to tensions between them.

All jokes aside any sign of Sam near the players and Malky would walk

He is a c**t!
He fucked us over and is still trying to.
People need to realise what he is.
People who love don't really, they just love being involved. Sam knows who to play people.
Mon Apr 29, 2013 10:38 am
Never go back and always go forward ....... just pay him off and let Tan and Co carry on and do whatever they want for the best of CCFC . Personally I don't think Sam should get a penny back , but that's my opinion !

I think Sam being involved with the club could be a PR nightmare. Premiership has moved on massively from the crazy gang days, and the same from when he was at Cardiff. He can't go walking round the pitch and looking to friend fans. Everything has to be 100% professional. He can't be taped speaking to guys like a fan does, about hooliganism etc. if the vids that came out last time came out this time we would be a laughing stock and it would damage us beyond belief. We were lucky we were a small club when it all came out last time. Now we are in the biggest league in the world.

I can't remember the specifics but didn't Sam claim to have advised TG & VT on some football matter not that long ago? (Might have been in a Carl update)
If my memory is correct, then surely that advice must have been good otherwise VT wouldn't be contemplating having Sam in that role now.
I often think the controversy that surrounded Sam's Chairmanship often smeared over the good work that he did do whilst in charge. I'm not claiming the guy isn't without fault but he definitely has something to offer and it would be bloody minded not to tap into it.
