Reaping the rewards

Sun Apr 28, 2013 12:09 pm

I don't think we realise the magnitude of Cardiff City finally achieving top flight status. Cardiff itself has been a booming capital for the last two decades and is now on a par with the majority of cosmopolitan cities. What's been well documented is the undoubted revenue streams the club will now benefit from. The commercial department is the busiest it's ever been, and before long the club won't be able to cope with the demand for sponsorship and basically will have to turn money away! Seeing many of the worlds press there yesterday proves that we're in a different league(scuse the pun)already.

I was told yesterday that when Swansea went up, the welsh assembly gave the club £250,000 for marketing, and this will be replicated with us. The conversation also went onto the recent UEFA conference at Newport. The city of Cardiff will host the Champions League Final by the end of the decade. The European Super Cup final is already a huge honour for Cardiff, but this will be a UEFA trial run for the main event. The snag where the Champions League has been concerned is the hospitality for the dignitaries and sponsors, but the final plans are now in place, and one of the companies who i deal with that were involved with the Ryder Cup are already in the loop

Let's be honest, we've been premier league in the making for years. Now we have top flight status to match the status of the unique city. Exciting times

Nice to see you briefly yesterday mate. I thought it was an ok game and Bolton looked excellent on the counter. Chris Eagles impressed. Could he cut it with us?

Yep but the Welsh Assembly said because it's The Capital, and Wales Premier Team, we will buy an airport and give them £2.5Million budget :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :malky:

Listening to Quiet Gav rambling on about the rebrand was bad enough without listening to the Welsh Daffy Duck

Embarrassing isn't it. I had to listen to his drunken, ill-informed gibberish on our weekend in Milan. He's Taffs Wells answer to the Fast Shows'Rowley Birkin QC. Incoherent drivel. I used to let his anti-anything Cardiff City rants on Facebook get to me, but when he was cheering on the jacks v Bradford in a Milan bar, I knew it was time to stop replying

Hope he never sets foot in the CCS again if I'm honest. You're right lake. It was embarrassing to hear his drivel yesterday. Me polo and rom fucked off up to the stadium to get away from it.

The thing that cracks me up is that he makes the effort to come to Cardiff on match days to preach his hatred towards Tan I think the plant food had finally got to him.

Away from the rebrand he's a nice kid. That's why pre Milan was agreed to no rebrand talk. When he did get on one it sounded like a cross between white noise and the Tazmanian devil. I've sat by him for years at the new place and he hated the fact we moved from Ninian Park. I'm sure there are many anti rebrand ex fans you could have a reasonable debate with. He isn't one of them

You've hit the nail on the head there though, many just don't want any change, they don't like us having prospects and good players, moving up the leagues, changing stadiums, kids now at football, women now at football, and everytimg else, that has changed over the last twenty thirty forty years. Some have seized upon the rebrand as a chance to give it up while not losing face, they can pack in now and say it's on principle, for some it suits their agenda IMO.....

Good post Tony. It will be interesting to see how big we can actually become!
We''ve obviously got a massive catchment area compared to most teams, add to that we are capital city and along with Swansea can claim the support of nation.
We have a billionaire backer who has billionaire friends.
We have someone who is skilled in marketing Asia. Tan is also trying to tap into Malaysia at grass roots level which no other club has even attempted.
Things are looking so promising for us it's unbelievable, I honestly wouldn't have even dreamed we'd be where we are now in the days of Clemo or Kumar when the best thing we could ever hope for is a good face cup 3rd round draw (if we could manage to get past Hayes first)
These are great days mate and there could be even greater days to come. :malky: :ayatollah:

Skies the limit mate

I only just watched Tans'speech from last night. It was no different to Rick Wright 20 years ago, or Sam Hammam 10 years ago. I doubt we've ever had a totally sane owner, and this guy with his'scared bluebird'comments is as wacky as anyone we've ever had at the helm, and i'm sure the next owners will be a bunch of f*cking fruitcakes, but where as those boycotters make their snide remarks about'selling out'i prefer to applaud the majority of the stadium yesterday who drowned out the tannoy when Tan walked on the pitch yesterday with'We'll always be blue'. That to me was as big a protest as i've seen all season, and it spoke volumes too, as Tan is now alluding to it in all his recent interviews. I can see it getting stronger too. Thousands at games calling for a return to blue ironically is a far better protest than not going to games and complaining about him on a laptop

Lakey I have never heard a chant as loud and powerful as that yesterday.

It was chanted with real meaning and I felt quite emotional whilst chanting that.

As you say far stronger than boycotting games to sit on your soapbox.
