Pre-Season Merthyr?

With the job done in achieving premier league status next season, I feel its important to support our fellow feeder club and the supporters within the Welsh Valleys who have been an integral part of our club.

I wonder if the club will organise a pre-season match against Merthyr, even if its just a development team put out against them. Would also like to see a match against Port Talbot and Barry Town.

But personally I'd love us to have a pre-season match against Merthyr,with a record attendance and to help them financially for the future.

Dont know if everyone else feels the same about it.

Record attendance? Merthyrs record attendance is 21,000.

They are not a feeder club either. They dont even play local boys thats why hardly no-one in the town can be bothered with them.

The club reformed in 2010, so the old records are no longer applicable.

I thought they were our feeder club, well glad you corrected me on that one

But in regards to not playing local players, they still field a majority of players with Welsh backgrounds, which is quite important for Welsh football in general.

Many young Welsh players dont have the opportunities to progress within the competitive leagues e.g. premiership-league 2, unless they really stand out.

Still even if they're not our feeder club, I feel it’s important to help fellow welsh clubs to raise their profile.

I used to love the Merthyr pre-season game which was generally the first pre-season game. For whatever reason the fixture was abandoned and we started at places like Forest Green or Weston-Super-Mare

Would love that fixture to return.

Weren't there a bit of trouble with the police last time we had Merthyr in per season?,I can remember walking past a wedding in the church close to ground,everyone was singing does the bride take it up the arse,funny at the time but I bet the poor fuckers were horrified

Since they has season down Taffs Well, the pitch wasn't looked after. The pitch is really bad, can't see us risking our players on there. Understand they are considering 3g pitch. Would love fixture to return though.
