After watching Dortmund and B Munich thump the two biggest teams in Spain. German football is definitely on the up. Spanish (mostly ticky tacker) football is losing it's way. This is why I believe Malky should try and emulate the Southampton way, I admire the way they have 2 industrial midfielders, 3 skilful and fluent attacking players and a power house of a CF. This is the way for football in the next decade or so. Look at Dortmund and B Munich, they play similar systems to Southampton. Gone are the days of playing out of defence and here come the days of finding CF to knock it down to an on rushing midfielder (seems familiar). Malky's been trying this system recently with Rudy up top and Kim, bellers and Noone behind, with Gunnar and Mutch doing the dirty work, despite being fluid (kim, Mutch swapping often).
This leads me to believe we have a great chance next year and we have a top, top manager. I honestly believe we only need a strong CF, CB and RB to be competitive. With the time you get on the ball in the BPL, I think our midfield is strong enough!
Team next year (possible)!

I did try telling you...... tippy tappy football is on the way out. Styles only last for so long. The opposition then know how to nullify you.

Hansen & Co will tell you this in abut 3 years time.

I wouldn't want huth. Turner can annoy people with his hoofing but he's such a good defender and actually has pace despite his size. Kenwyne upfront maybe? Malky may have someone lined up on the continent. However, fraizer ain't too bad in the air despite not being that big

German football has been massive for ages but because its not shoved in your face by Sky every 5 minutes to make money its hardly taken notice of.

Was Portuguese football massive the year Porto won it then? No, it wasn't. Winning the CL has many factors involved some of which is luck i.e. Liverpools phantom goal etc.

Quality of a league does not cross over directly into CL directly as there are too many other factors involved. The Bundesliga is far more competitive and is not money driven. Also, how are Germany doing in international fixtures as the last time I checked they absolutely ruined England. That shows the strength of the domestic league as most of them players are products of German team based youth systems. Ozil, Muller from Bayern and Ozil sold on for a nice profit and so forth with Dortmund.

Okay I bow to your superior knowledge. Im not going to entertain an idiot so I concede defeat. I've only watched the league for 10 years but I know absolutely nothing and my comparative view is invalid. Goodnight, sleep tight knowing you won the argument. Im out, cant be bothered arguing you just for arguments sake just because it turns you on. Ciao.

He's right though it hasnt been massive for ages, however, they have been slowly building it with good crop of young players coming through at once and having the right set up and now they are reaping the rewards and everyone can see that. Fully expect Germany to make the World Cup final.

The Uk really need to see how the Germans have got football set up over there as its the right way

IMO its been massive for ages on a domestic level. Bayern have hardly struggled in Europe, lets be honest. Granted, they've not won it for many many years but the CL is not the be all and end all when determining the quality of a league, well not in my opinion. The Championship for example is a great league however there is no affiliation with Europe and is far more entertaining than the Premier League in my opinion on an overall basis.

Thats the viewpoint im coming from, maybe our view of 'massive' is different in what we are talking about here. To me the Bundesliga has been bigger than the Prem for some years - quality youth players coming through, quality fan bases with passion, teams doing reasonably well in Europe, competitive league with different teams winning it each year, its as physical as the Premier League, etc.

If he means massive in terms of recognition then yes of course he is right. Maybe the understanding was off. If thats the case I apologise kingdong.

German teams have been regulars in CLsemi-finals etc, but havent won anything for some time. Why?

Cos German teams dont do overspending, like Spanish or Italian teams. No German team is owned by an Abramovich or Glazer, therefore they dont spend that big amount on players wages and transfer fees. They spend ok, especially Bayern, but compared to the superstars at Barca, Real etc, it is very reasonable...

Football itself is massive over here... I recently wanted to go and watch Schalke at Frankfurt...no chance, sold out for months...and Frankfurts ground isnt exactly small...
Most teams have a fullhouse, week in week out, lower ticket prices, a good public image, terraces, beer inside the grounds (except at your risk-match, local derby etc)...

Havent been inside a German ground for some time now but will go again this friday to watch Offenbach's derbygame vs Darmstadt...could get tasty... :laughing6:

Only thing is... Offenbach's traditionally red and Darmstadt blue...
