Parking Ticket on Broadacres after Ipswich game 12 Jan

Wed Apr 24, 2013 4:22 pm

Had never parked there before, but did so along with many others that day. We all got tickets and some of the lads who also did say that they had parked there for years with no problem. We all said we would appeal and I appealed mine on the basis that the road, and those around it, have no markings or signs kerbside to indicate that you can't park there, except for one at the entrance. I felt it was at best unclear and at worst deliberately deceptive.

Heard today that my appeal had failed, but wonder if any of others who got a ticket that day are on the site and whether they just paid or appealed etc.

Will probably not waste time and energy on a further appeal, but feel a bit aggrieved..... :(

They always fail the first appeal.

Sadly you need to go a bit further. Your arguments seem good if they are correct, only you will know that. If so I just wonder if they will take you to court. Calling their bluff it is called.

Thanks, you're probably right, I do need to go further as I do think my arguments are strong. I think they rely on people not bothering to fight it.

Exactly.

There are a few sites around that are of great help.

Broad acre has been residential parking for years now, back when we were still in Ninian.

I had a ticket way back in 2009 so it's at least been in place that long.

No road marking, large signs on posts at the entrance to all the streets around there.

Dont go to court just because you feel aggrieved, angry, pissed off. Go to court if you know you are right.
Otherwise if you lose it will cost you dearly. I presume this was a Council or Police ticket.

I feel aggrieved because I don't think it is clear that it is residents parking, although accept there are signs at the entrance, but they are easy to miss when you turn in. I suspect legally I will lose, despite a strong sense that it is unfair...., so you're right it would be probably be an expensive folly to contest.

On well....

I'm pretty up with parking restrictions and you are spot on. The sign going into the street clearly displays the restriction and no further signs or road markings are required for enforcement. Any appeal will rightly be rejected.
