CARDIFF keen on Le Fondre

Tue Apr 23, 2013 9:02 am

Adam Le Fondre admits he may have to leave Reading in search of first-team football with Cardiff reported to be keen.

Le Fondre has managed to bag 12 goals this season despite a season of struggle for the Royals, but he has still been unable to command a regular first XI place. The 26-year-old has also struggled to force his way into the side since new boss Nigel Adkins took over and he admits the future at the Madejski Stadium does not look a bright one for him. There will be no shortage of interest in the striker though and Cardiff, who will be playing in the Premier League next season, have him on their wanted list. "I'm like every footballer. I want to start, I want to play games and at this moment I'm not getting anything," Le Fondre revealed. "We needed goals and that is what I bring to the table. I want to play every game, I want to start games but most importantly I want to come on the pitch and affect things and make an impact. "It is disappointing from my point of view that when we are pressing so hard I can't come on the pitch and influence it. I have no idea what happens with me. It's in the club's hands. I've had a half-decent season by my standards."

If he's not good enough for Reading how is he good enough for us? Think we can get better than him. :ayatollah:

Most of the pundits seem to think he's a bit of a lightweight-not robust enough.I would hope we set our sights a bit higher.

I'd be very happy with Le Fondre. He appears to be a 'Malky-type' player and works hard for the team whilst netting the odd goal or two ;) :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

If he was good enough, he'd be playing in a Reading team that are going down. Not one for me!

No No NO! There is a reason he doesn't play regularly. Not good enough.

How can you not rate him?
He has always had an excellent career since he was knocking in about 40 goals a season with Rothertham.
He made a HUGE jump up to playing for Reading in the top flight and still managed to score 12 goals in a season... He hasn't played the majority of the goals and STILL he has scored more goals than any of our players this season.

He is an excellent player in my eyes and I'd be happy to have him on our books. :ayatollah:

Cant get in the Reading team and theyve been relegated.

Not better than Campbell imo.

well Fraizer Campbell couldn't get in the sunderland team that's why hes with you, so to be fair that doesn't prove anything

Agreed.

We're not going to be bringing in Wayne Rooney, Tevez, Balotelli or bloody Gonzalo Higuain.

Le Fondre tore Chelsea apart when Reading were 2-0 down and brought it to 2-2. He'd be a quality addition to bring off the bench and he's a workhorse.

Unless its escaped your notice the article his him moaning he doesnt want to be in the bench.

And how the f**k does claiming I think Campbell is better mean I think we should be signing Rooney, Balotelli or bloody Higuain???!

And Cardiff City are a totally unproven entity in the Premier league and actually in EXACTLY the same situation as Reading were when they got promoted. So its a bit ridiculous to say that Le Fondre isn't good enough for you... ;)

Campbell has a better all round game, he got stuck at Sunderland due to injuries and needed games they couldn't give him. If Le Fondre's attitude is right and he would be ok as an impact player then he gets my vote. If not he can go moan somewhere else.

There are so many people on this forum who either have their head stuck in the clouds or up their asses. Le Fondre would be a good signing for us. 12 goals in 33 games is a good return for an average forward in the Premiership. We are not Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea etc. We can't afford a 20-25 goals a season striker. This is not fantasy football, this is the reality of going up to the Premiership.

Too much like Maynard and Campbell. I would rather a more physical presence up front.

dum de dum de dum

on what do you base that Campbell is better? Le Fondre has scored more goals in his one season in the Premier League than Campbell managed in 4 Years at Sunderland!

Yes Campbell had a lot of injurys but even when he was fit he was hardly prolific.....
