Cardiff City tickets on twitter

Tue Apr 23, 2013 12:42 am

Lots of clubs have a twitter page where fans can advertise tickets they have spare due to not being able to make the game ect..

These have proved very popular and they do work as I have used a few for myself for numerous clubs.

Such a page would have come in handy for me a number times for Cardiff but none exist so I have gone ahead and set one up. The idea is simple people looking to sell tickets tweet me and I re-tweet to the followers who can then contact that person.

Tickets should only be sold/bought at face value, and ticket touts will be banned from the page.

As you know twitter is a very quick and handy tool and many fans pick up tickets on match day from last minute drop outs using similar pages for other football clubs.

This also provides a better solution than people making accounts on our message boards just to ask for a spare tickets. Which we can expect alot more of next Season!

This is a good idea, however as we issue id cards instead of paper tickets - I don't think I would be comfortable giving this to anyone apart from close friends !

Indeed in theory according to terms and conditions the tickets are in theory 'non transferrable', although people I've lent my card too have had no problems.

But i'm not sure what would happen if some scrote didn't return your card

So lets say i cant make the Manchester United game and the face value of my ticket(actually ST) equates to £20 so i let someone buy it for that amount

In theory season tickets would not work, but there will still be a few thousand general sale tickets for every game, however it is important to remember away games are all paper tickets. And drop outs and last minute cancellations are a real problem for away games more so than home.

Manchester is just a bad example there would be hardly nobody with spare tickets, and if they did they would easily be able to flog them to family and friends alone without the need of advertising them.

However there are only around 6 games next season where tickets will be like gold dust. what about the wigans, villa's,newcastle, Southampton.

Also the page is more for paper tickets not season tickets as many people are not comfortable handing our their card (even tho you can cancel it and get a replacement)

Also face value for the Manchester game will be around £60 not £20 tickets with our new dynamic pricing.

Will not work for ST's.

The club will accept back paper tickets and away tickets for sold out games, if not sold out no need to buy from others.

How will you know if someone is a tout?

If you check out same other clubs pages they seem to be very popular, as i previously said i have used newcastle's page to get tickets in Swansea away end.

here is arsenals: https://twitter.com/arsenal_tickets

In regards to touts, when people advertise they normally say the price they are looking for eg.
2 adult tickets CardiffvSpurs
canton stand - £30ea.

If someone tweeted me with a stupid price i would not re-tweet it to our followers, or if someone lied about the advertised price i would ask the other person to message me and then block that person form the page.

I meant, how do you stop touts BUYING them?

The service will provide a nice supply of face value tickets for potentially sold out games. Touts sniff out this sort of thing and then sell them on.

Wont be around £60 for me  , but i see your point although i edge to the opinion most people will try and get as much as they can for the tickets on the basis that this could be our only season in the Premier now this is just my opinion.

to be honest there is no reason why people cant negotiate a more 'relative' price for the game they cant attend after they have made contact, like you i would not sell my Manchester ticket for £20 if everyone else is selling them for £100 or more.

However I have to operate the twitter page as face value (non-profit) for it to be allowed to exist. Once two people have contacted each-over what they actually pay for the ticket is between them its a free world after-all.

But it is also important to remember when we are not playing the top clubs, or people drop out of away game last minute many people will be very happy to get their money back the morning of the game at face value, instead of the ticket going to waste.

quite frankly you cant, however I guess nobody would be selling their tickets at face value for the big games anyway, this is more handy for the majority of our premiership games when playing middle-bottom clubs were the tickets are not worth more than their face-value and people would rather just get their money back instead of waste a seat. The touts would not touch these games anyway.
