Dougie Freedman dismisses Chris Eagles speculation.

Sun Apr 21, 2013 9:48 pm

Dougie Freedman has rejected speculation linking Chris Eagles with a move to Championship winners Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds were promoted to the Premier League last week and sealed the Championship title with a 1-1 draw at Burnley on Saturday. Eagles played with the Cardiff boss during spells at Watford in 2005 and 2006 and speculation suggests the pair could be reunited in the summer.

The 27-year-old scored Bolton's opening goal in a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday. Speaking prior to that game, Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman shrugged off talk of a transfer - claiming the rumours have no foundation and were most likely started by a teenager on social media.

"I will not comment on a 15-year-old kid tweeting in his bedroom that Chris Eagles is going to leave," Freedman told The Bolton News. I told everyone three months ago that Chris could be the difference and he's proving to be the difference.
He's a fantastic fella and he's never once indicated that he wanted to leave to me. I don't know how to answer any straighter than that."

Eagles' goal against Boro was his tenth strike of the season, meaning he is on course to land Bolton's Golden Boot award at the end of the campaign.
