Under the stand yesterday

Sun Apr 21, 2013 9:38 pm

On exactly 39 minute yesterday the combination of a weak bladder and a pre-game pint in the cricket club meant that I needed to answer the call of nature. Normally I'd wait until half time but i thought that if I nipped down early i could get back before the end of the half.

i was somewhat surprised however to see literally hundreds of fans under the stand eating, drinking and queueing for food/drink. In fact i had to fight my way through the crowd to the toilet and then fight my way back through an even bigger crowd to get back.

Some people were watching the game on the televisions whilst queueing but many many more were just talking, drinking and paying absolutely no attention to the game whatsoever.

Now, I appreciate that people are absolutely free to do what they like and I've never been one for complaining about fans leaving early etc but i found it a little strange that people who would have had to get up early yesterday to travel to the game at reasonably great expense should show such absolute disinterest in a game that would see us possibly crowned as champions.

As I say, found it a bit strange.

I've seen guys at away games who leave the ground before half time because there is a pub near the stadium.

Yes I don't understand it too.

Unfortunately we have a lot of people who are more interested in the craic and boozing than in the football.

Have you ever gone for a piss at CCS during the game? I went for a wazz about half way through the Forest game and, bearing in mind what a thoroughly entertaining game it was and we had just gone 3-0 up, I couldn't believe how many there were stood around chatting, not even looking at the screen! As you said, each to their own and everything but...yes, very odd behaviour.

It certainly seems like that. But to travel all that way to spend lots of money on overpriced beer and pretty disgusting food seems an odd choice to me!

No I haven't but I've heard that as well. And it's not too surprising as the "half time rush" seems to start on about the 35th minute at CCS!

I have it on very good authority that the meat and potato pie contained neither of the foodstuffs which make up it's name.

Beers at your seat in my opinion then there will be no problem.

If its a dry ground you don't see anyone under the stand
