Who would excite you ?

Sun Apr 21, 2013 4:26 pm

We obviously need a few quality players to stand a chance of staying up so who would you go for realistically to be our main signing In each position ? Someone who could make the difference ?

Defence -matija nastasic ( young man city c/b , could be worth a cheaky loan bid he's quality )
Midfield - samba diakite from qpr ( big hard tackling def mid , exactly what we need )
Striker - Darren bent ( will either do f**k all or score us 20+ goals ? Is it worth the gamble ? )

Nastasic? He starts almost every game for Man City.
Diakite is not bad.
Bent? No thanks. He had 1 good season.

The sounds of city they are spending big this summer again so he could drop down the pecking order , I did say it would be cheaky
Bent is a strange player he's either shithot or useless , could a new club and fresh start reignite his career ?

Unrealistic. We are never in a million years gonna sign any of these players.

Terrible post.

you can have adomah for a million. But you must fill in the corners of your stadium because he never knows when to cross so would end up in the bay a couple of times a match!!!!!!

How are the unrealistic ? Do you know we are now a premiership team who can attract premiership players ?
Diakite is now a championship player with qpr and will probably move on why not to us ?
Bent is a reserve at villa and his price has dropped considerably , he could also very likely be a championship player aswell
Nastasic will likely be sat in the stands or the bench next year I agree it was ambitious suggestion but we are now looking at a higher quality player and if you don't ask you don't know !

Terrible reply to a post ;)

Ok lets be honset are we going to fork out 50k+ wages for maybe Diakite and definietly Bent - NO
Nastasic played 90mins for City today which suggests that he's surely a part of the plans for next season

We have to be realistic. We aren't going to sign these players.

Roger Johnson's a shadow of the player he was when he left us sadly.

Elle Macpherson excites me,an embrace with her is probably more realistic than some of the names banded around.

Aston Villa are sitting on a ticking time bomb that will force the club into a major cut-price clear-out if they are relegated.

Sunday Mirror Sport understands top-paid Villa players Darren Bent, Stephen Ireland, Shay Given and Charles N’Zogbia do not have relegation clauses in their contracts.

With Gabriel Agbonlahor and Alan Hutton also on healthy deals that run to 2015, Villa cannot afford to go down without slashing the wage bill.

Villa’s annual wage bill for those six alone – who have all been dumped or demoted by manager Paul Lambert – is just under a staggering £17million.

Big time Charlie: N'Zogbia has failed to justify his price tag
Neville Williams

A Villa Park source said: “The big earners do not have relegation clauses and the club cannot afford to keep paying them if they go down. Their only option will be to find new clubs for them.” The expensive contracts of Richard Dunne and Stephen Warnock expire in the summer and they will not be renewed if the club cannot find buyers for the pair this month.

But Villa are terrified of the double threat of being relegated and stuck with an enormous wage bill for players who are not part of Lambert’s plans.

Fulham and QPR may test the water with a £7m bid for striker Bent, who earns £65,000 a week and cost a staggering £24m from Sunderland two years ago.

For bent A bid of around 5 mill plus 40 k a week wages which is the norm in the prem would very possibly interest him especially if no other clubs are interested ! It wouldn't be that unrealistic if you think about it especially if they go down , he will have to be sold like they said .

Looking into diakite he's on about 40 k at qpr , would he swap championship for premiership on the same wages ? They paid 3 mill for him and will want him off there wage bill .

Nastasic is probably a tad adventurous though  may have got ahead of myself there I agree

Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea.
Raheem Sterling on loan from Liverpool.
John Guidetti on loan from Man City.
Moses on the bench at the moment and could be pushed further on the sidelines if they sign more players in the summer.
Others are young players also out of favour who would benefit themselves and their clubs by going out on loan to another premiership side for the season.

Someone quality from one of the top prem teams on loan would be a good move tho because its worked good with the likes of caulker to Swansea and lukaku to west brom.
