Massive change of mindset needed from fans

Sun Apr 21, 2013 9:27 am

Next year our fans will need a massive change of mindset if we are to help the club stay in the premier league. Probably at least 50% of regular fans who know attend games have known nothing but a relatively successful championship side who have had their eye on the play offs as oppossed to relegation.

We did have one dodgy season at the start of our championship tenure, but I think we got safe with a point at Gillingham with a good few games to go or something like that. That was years ago and ever since we have been looking up the league, winning more games than we lose.

There are been many occassions when the team has got boo'ed at half time / full time when they have being losing / drawing or lost or drew, and that is at the championship level.

Next season will be a big wake up for many and I only hope they can take it on the chin and continue to support the team regardless. Here are some facts:

Next season we will lose more than we win, we will get thumped a few times (talking 4/ 5 etc). Anyone who can't accept this fact is delluded. I accept to be fully outclassed a number of times home and away. If we lose 5 nil at home to one of the big guns, as long as the lads have put a shift in they deserve our full support for 90 mins. No booing bollocks, next year we will be playing the best players in the world , we need to accept that we will be outclassed from time to time.

The aim for this side next season will be 38 / 40 points. That will be a huge acheivement. A point a game ratio will be excellent.

The crowd also needs to lift it, we need an atmosphere akin to the Charlton game everyday, otherwise the like of Manure and Chelski will think the ccfc stadium is a walk in the park.

Fair play to jackanory, their lot have bought in to the style of football they have gone for. Many a game this season, the volume of our crowd has lifted when our back 4 has failed to get the ball forward. In the premier league, as in any other league in the world, if you have got the ball, you are not conceding goals.

I hope the fans who have only known a successful championship side can support the team with some perspective next year.

Thats my 10p.
