Vince spoke about yest Amazing day/but where were our fans?

" Vince Alm spoke about yesterday and I agree with him "

For me Yesterday prob ranks in my top 5 Cardiff City games of all time( in 41 years of supporting the bluebirds), I am so glad I was there to witness the occasion and support the Bluebirds.

I honestly cant understand why we never sold out and it was pay on the day, so I agree with Vince.

For the 1700+ supporters who made the long early trip to Burnley today to be part of history being made; You can say you were there! You can say you were part and created a Fantastic atmosphere! You can say you were part of those special celebrations with the players, management, and staff at the end of the game. You were brilliant today and in turn for your effort were rewarded with an occasion that may never be repeated or matched again in our life times. First time Cardiff City has ever won the football league title and only our third division title in our history, I find it incredible that many supporters did not grasp the enormity of the prize on offer today and chose not to go with at least 1600 tickets unsold? You will never know how special today was.

Well done to the Burnley fans who clapped us as we passed them on the coaches leaving turf moor, and I'm glad they got a point for my Burnley mate Lee :-) think 55 points will keep them up now. Even the air con breaking down and the M6 shut couldn't dampen our spirits because "WE WERE THERE :-)" WE are the Champions Bluebirds !!!!

So many great times this seaosn and in the last few years, but that one was for me probably the best.

This trophy is probably the 2nd biggest thing we have ever won (after 1927) - and many on my bus were arguing that this is bigger.

This club is special, over the last few years we have had lots of excitement, wembley trips, cup finals, etc. I honestly dont think its stopping here, i got a funny feeling we gonna go further, build stronger and be a top club over next few years. Maybe more cup finals or even europe !.. Fingers crossed hey !!.. :ayatollah: :malky:

I think those sentiments are very sensible, but the only reason we've had such a good occasion to enjoy is because of the money that VT has put in this season - and then the way that Malky, Bellers and the boys have rallied around to perform, but without VT's money, we'd at best be looking at a relegation season.

I can understand the "rather be blue in league 2" brigade's arguments (whilst 100% disagreeing with them), but if we are embracing yesterday specifically and this season in general as one of our greatest achievements ever, then we can't have it both ways - we have to embrace VT as well (as his financial support has been the main piece in the jigsaw), and anything else is pure hypocrisy.

I can fully understand the position of people who say that they oppose him 100%, but will not give up on their club and therefore continue to attend and 'tuff it out until we get back to blue' - but if we are embracing the achievements of the season to this extent, then accept the fact that we're only there because of VT (and by implication, the rebrand is a part of that, as without that, he said that he was not going to be investing further in us).

l Don't want to be negative, as this period is great for us all, but I do feel strongly about us not losing sight of the reality of why we can celebrate this season's achievements.

Me and CityOne remained in Burnley for a few hours and were well looked after. Almost every fan offered congratulations whilst others offered there opinions and advice on how we should do things in the Prem.
It all added to,what was for me the best away match I've ever been to.

Thanks to wonderful community spirit of Burnley and all the members of the Miners club.
Thanks to all the fans for making the atmosphere a brilliant one,From start to finish you were all superb.
And Thank you to Cardiff City. Boot cleaner, ball boys to board room directors,Every single one the players, coaches and Malky Mackay. FOR YOU HAVE ALL MADE MY DREAMS A REALITY. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Like most of this season the end has panned out perfectly. Promotion in front of 26,000 at CCS crowned Champions in front of our WORLD class away support at Burnley and the presenting of the Football League Trophy back at CCS.

Until our Champions League success in approx 5 years time, this season will be the greatest ever. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

There are many many fans who dont go anymore - these were the ones also who went up and down the country supporting City and getting harrassed by Old Bill.

Its plain to see the correlation between the demise of the hooligan, the arrests/sentences after stoke/leeds/chelsea and the turn to red vrs the numbers of fans that now travel pro rata with the home fans numbers.

in the 80's more than 45% of our home crowd would go away.
Now - this is around 8%.
Most of us can rattle of 10, 20, 30 names of people who dont watch city anymore.

We used to be 50 strong in my patch going to watch city, nowadays only around 10 regulars. and thats for home games

Money also has a major influence unfortunately - a lot saying on tuesday that they would 'keep their money' for Bolton home.

Hopefully our travelling numbers will improve again - we'll see :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

im sure the am KO and live on sky didnt help, if it had been 3pm we'd have sold another 1000 or so im sure.
Bizarre to think we took more there for the final away 87/88 when we were promoted out of division 4. who'd have thought that?
Sign of the times too.....

All the celebrations were done on Tuesday night.

Of course the game v Burnley we were going to be officially the champions. But for a 5+ hour long trip to Burnley which was an early kick off meaning that you had to wake up and leave in the early hours, a game that was on Sky, and everyone could watch the whole game and the celebrations for the cost of nothing, why are you surprised?

If it hadn't been on Sky and been 3 PM it would have sold out, and been a clamour for more.

Taking the emotion out of it, it's quite good watching in the pub sometimes, a lot cheaper and you get a lie in.

For me I didn't want to miss it, and felt the players deserved support on the ground, but not everyone feels that way.

We took more there two years ago for what turned out to be a meaningless end of season game

Annis; I respect both you and Vince but even you guys must know why the the Cardiff support was poor at Burnley, especially under the circumstances (Promotion Party) to the Promised Land; We doubled that in 87-88 at Turf moor with a louder party for being runners up to Wolves in our promotion from division 4, And befor anyone yarps on about costs/prices have risen ect..... prices was an issue back then. Its the re-brand bollox that is the last straw to many Fans that will not except it not even for Premiership football Myself included. Fair play to those that did travel to Burnley yesterday you did us proud with the obvious dominance of Blue and White that would make most Owners smell the coffee in regards to tradition, We dont have to be told that our present owner will put this seasons success down to the re-brand/or playing in Red''''''''''', Truth is MM is the first real manager We'v had in years as we all know that Cork / Gould /Lawrence /Jones were mere puppets and it would be wrong to believe anything other than MM's staff/'Players ect........ has made such fantastic achievements this past two seasons, unfortunately we have a tyrannical owner who's stiff neck wont let Him realise that a 40,000 seater wouldnt have been enough for next season forget the proposed couple of thousand seats for next season. I didnt know weather to laugh or cry when the players were celebrating in front of a sea of Blue and White looking man utd. Cringe worthy to say the least. :old:

For me it was fantastic to see us get promoted on Tuesday Evening at the CCS....and it was fantastic to watch us win the championship on Sky Sports, and then listen to Malky and Peter Beagrei discuss the game after.....I was at Watford and 10 others always this season....but I don't appreciate wankers telling me that I should be there, trying to blow my candle out to make theirs burn brighter.....f**k OFF.

BUMS ON SEATS; Is far different from seat sold. ie 26,000 atn includes thousands of STH's not at the game!!! :old:

Annis there are many, many fans who has stuck two fingers up to Tan.

While the new fans will help give a false figure as to how many don't attend home games anymore we both know that it is in its thousands that dont attend anymore due to the rebrand.

watched it in the pub great atmosphere in there got a feeling i will be watching a lot more away games in the pub next season due to cost and a lot of glory hunters grabbing tickets :ayatollah: :malky:

Re: Vince spoke about yest Amazing day/but where were our fa

Sun Apr 21, 2013 3:25 pm

thoroughly enjoyed watching it in my local pub, with about 10 others, my drinking cost me approx £25, that then left me with a fiver for the rest of the weekend...it's very simple, like many thousands of others, I can't afford to go away, it's too expensive, for those that can afford it, good on you, you came across loud and clear...

Re: Vince spoke about yest Amazing day/but where were our fa

Sun Apr 21, 2013 3:45 pm

Oh ffs not everyone can afford to go everywhere all of the time.

We just had 3 home games in 8 days.

Some people have just forked out money for season tickets for next year, have traveled to Sheffield Wednesday, Watford and Peterborough to support the team in the run in.

Nobody knew it was going to be the game that possibly clinched the championship until Tuesday Night and even then it wasnt a certainty.

To take that many for a mid-day kick off to Burnley, not exactly on the doorstep is good.

Why people have to have digs at out support is beyond me, just enjoy the moment.

Rose tinted specs..

Not much more than 2000 of us (if that) there in 87-88. I was there. The crowd was only about 8000 and Burnley's terrace and stands were full of their fans. We had about 1/3 of the terrace and whilst it was full it wasn't packed.

For me nothing will ever surpass the elation after the play off win. Maybe because I was younger then, maybe it's because I ve thought for a good few weeks that it was a matter of time before we would go up. The win against the jacks down here is probably second for me.

Re: Vince spoke about yest Amazing day/but where were our fa

We get what we get, home or away, just get over it.

There are absolutely tonnes of reasons why people did not go and none of them are anything to do with lack of support for the team.

People work shifts or weekends, many have no money, quite a few more will have family responsibilities. Not everyone gets carte blanche to go to every away game. If you work Monday to Friday, there are tonnes of things that need to be done around a home at the weekend, if you got to games home and next week go away, others halves should rightly be pissed.

I've asked many if they would ever consider doing an away trip with me, most couldn't stand to be with me that long but one or two actually believe there's a bit of a high and mighty click amongst away fans, I put them right but you cannot account for perception.

Just go about doing your own thing. Fanaticism has many levels, for some the club are the centre of their universe and everything must revolve around it, for others it's a minor social event at the end of a more important week of work and home life.

Each to their own.

I find it incredible that Vince would say such a thing. After 3 home games in a week & the game being early on Sky, it was always going to be a struggle to sell out.
