We need to sort out a contract that the Toffeemen can't match...

He won't leave.
Why would you leave a club that is growing and gives you everything you need to keep growing to a club that is happy to finish 8th every year.

1. Everton are nothing without Moyes
2. Everton's owner wont give Malky any money - if he wont give it to Moyes Malky has no chance
3. If Moyes goes so will quality players like Fellaini etc.
4. We have an owner who has backed the manager and will back the manager
5. Everton will go the same way as Villa did when they lost O'Neill if Moyes leaves them
6. Malky is already loved and idolised here. If he went to Everton he'd have to win them over which is hard - Champions League qualification or winning one of the cups with a side that is going to get weaker as quality players leave

Conclusion

Too much risk involved as Everton fans will expect too much for the situation they'll be in and he wont be backed

I've always thought that Malky would be an obvious choice to replace Moyes if Moyes left this season.

I think people underestimate Everton's playing budget. Their wage-bill is up one of the highest outside the top 4.

There's also the pull of well-established premiership club and their history.

I'd like to think Malky would stay with us for one premiership season at least though.

I've heard a lot of whispers involving Malky and Everton.

Chinese ones i guess  For them who say he will not go lets try to be real here if somebody offers you double money for the same job in any line of work 99% of people go. Im looking in real terms as much as hes done a good job with us but thats football as there is no loyalty when it comes to more money the same as players :ayatollah:

Just found this..

Cardiff City face a fight to hold on to manager Malky Mackay who has guided Cardiff to the Premier League for the first time in 51 years. AndThe Mirror claims that Everton have him pencilled on their list to replace David Moyes — if the highly respected Scot leaves Goodison Park this summer.Mackay is almost a carbon copy of Moyes. Both Scots, they share the same hard-graft, no-nonsense qualities. Mackay spent two years at Watford before joining Cardiff two seasons ago. He has one year left on his current contract.

In a lot - if not most - cases, it is fair to say that most people would except a higher wage for doing the same (in principle) job. But in reality this is definitely not always the case. I work in a management role which involves a lot of pressure and after-hours commitment, yet I could work for the same company in a front-line role, on a shift basis with no after-hours commitment, for around the same wage. But I choose not to because I want a more challenging job.

It's pretty clear that these days most footballers - or perhaps their agents - are incentivised primarily by wages. There must be such a culture of keeping up with the jones's and this is perpetuated by ever inflating salaries. It must be hard not to constantly re-evaulate yourself based on your salary compared to current performance. Especially when players' wages are made common knowledge.

I'd like to think that at a manager's level the individual has matured enough to realise that past the 18k wage you need to put a roof over your head and feed yourself, or the 50k to buy a nice car and golf club membership, or the 80k to have nice holidays and pay for private tuition, that any additional cash is likely to be spunked away on shit you don't actually need.

A common excuse from a new manager for poor team performance is that he has inherited a team that he would not have chosen himself. Malky has hand-picked his team. He has won the championship title the first season he was given decent money to spend.

The question is does he want to prove his ability even further and continue his progress after building such strong relationships with his squad and his staff - not to mention moving his family and leaving his new friends - or start again somewhere new for the sake of some new cars and properties. I think you all know the answer by now.

do you know anything about football?,do you think any manager at this level is scared to risk going to a new club to win over the fans?,in fact malky took a big risk leaving his relatively safe job to come here after our play off failures so why wouldn't he go to everton, these managers are hungry for success and malky will move on eventually it's called progression and when he does he will feel he as won enough respect and gained enough experience to build his own team as he did here.we thought you were part of this new club now and against the rebrand?,can you update us or are you still playing devil's advocate.

I think you're spot on here mate. Especially point 5. Everton will go downhill fast and will drop like a stone. I cant imagine players like Fellaini, Baines, Miralles etc will want to stay what Moyes leaves.

There's strong interest from the Middle East about a takeover at Everton but apprantely the asking price of £125 million is the stumbling block.

Re: Everton sniffing around Malky

Malky would ruin his reputation if he goes to Everton and fails, it's a massive risk, he could leave if he keeps us up and joins another club but with such a strong working relationship with Tan and money to spend. Seeing the club have a massive evolution ever since he's came here, seeing the future pan out to be brilliant, I think he'll be here for the long term.

Cardiff City are "Big Time" now. Malky and our players are going to be the attention of speculation not just in this country but abroad as well. This comes with the territory.

My personal view is that Cardiff are bigger than Everton.

Cardiff have a bigger Fan Base. They have a bigger ground with room to increase - and most of all they have a greater financial clout than Everton.

Don't get me wrong Everton have quality players. But we now have the ability to bring something really special to South Wales and, what we have seen over the last few weeks, is only the start

I'm sorry but lets be realistic FFS!!!

City are not a bigger club than Everton. Everton hold the record for being in the top division for 109 seasons and won the league 9 times and runners up 7 times, won the FA Cup 5 times and runners up 8 times and even a European throphy in '84. And until City get anywhere near that kind of record then Everton will always be a bigger club with regards to history alone.

Goodison Park holds 40,221 which is bigger than CCS and they move away from there sooner or later to a bigger ground.

Cardiff do not have a bigger fan base because Everton enjoy huge numbers from the North Wales area alone!!

While I agree with you that the club are well positioned to bring something special to the area making un-realisitc comments that we are a bigger club than Everton is (at the moment) complete bollox and laughable!!!!

Re: Everton sniffing around Malky

Surprised by the 40,000. When I have photographed at Goodison I wouldn't say it felt like 40k - and they have no room to increase their stadium.

Yes they have been in the Premiership for a very long time but I genuinely don't think they are anything special.

Im not getting carried away here. I seriously think with the right players, next season, we could come close. When you see that Swansea, West Ham and West Brom are on their tail I am sure, next season, we could come close - especially if they lose Fellaini

Mate Ive been to Goodison many times and I can assure you that its much bigger than what CCS is at the moment.

Are you saying that whatever position a team finishes for a couple of seasons automatacallity makes you bigger than others..? So its not about fan base or history just what position a team finishes for a season or two!!!

I think Everton will make Moyes a contract he can't turn down, making him a cert to sign a new deal!

They don't give him didly shit to spend in the transfer window neither. I can't see him staying.
