The Championship Trophy Presentation.

Sat Apr 20, 2013 6:35 pm

As a Bluebird fan for the last 47 years I'm not really used to winning League Titles with two games to play. Ok I'm not really used to winning League Titles as the only other time in my 47 years was season 1992/93 when the late great Eddie May led the club to the League Division Three Championship after winning 3-0 away at sunny scunny in the last game of the season.

But with promotion won with 3 games left and the Championship won with two games remaining I suppose thoughts go to what happens next. :? Well we have two league games to play obviously but how many would be surprised to hear that the club must now pay £163K to the football league before the end of May. Why? Along with the two other clubs who will be promoted with us it goes to provide "parachute" payments to the clubs relegated to League 1. What a difference to PL parachute payments. :o

Next week we now know we will be presented with the League Trophy and 23 individual medals, 18 for players, the manager, physio, club secretary and two club staff (Not Players). Additional medals can sometimes be allowed with permission of the FL. So if there are only 18 player medals who should get them, well the 18 players with the most appearances are;

Marshall, Gunnarsonn, Taylor, Whittingham, Helguson, Connolly, Hudson, Bellamy, Noone, Mason, Turner, Bo-Kyung Kim, Conway, Cowie, Gestede, MacNaughton, Smith and Mutch. All these players have appeared in 20 or more matches this season.

That leaves Campbell (11), Nugent (10), Barnett (8), Ralls (4), Maynard (3), Kiss (2), Lappin (2), Velikonja (2).

Personally I would like to see the club pay for the additional medals for each of these players as each has played a part, however small, but surely Campbell, Nugent and Barnett deserve medals. Surely :ayatollah:

If that is not possible hopefully they will all be part of the lap of honour.

Would be extremely harsh for Campbell and Nugent not to get medals

I concur, it'd be rather unreasonable.
