A forum for all things Cardiff City

over the years he's been a great player for us, immense with his midfield assisting work and also scoring for fun while being on form, but does he really have what it takes to play for us in the prem? He's been lacking goals lately, losing form/confidence and he seems too slow on the ball, they say form is temporary and class is permanent but has he really got the quality that we need in midfield to take us where we want to go in the prem, the defensive midfield role that he's been taking often while playing for city just doesn't seem to work

To me it looks slightly like hes on the way down now, with the 09-10 season being his prime season. Still will be a great player to bring on from the bench though!

See I reckon we should cash in on him now and use the money elsewhere! He just seems to slow everything down when he plays, even if he takes a mean set piece!

I cant believe how quickly people are willing to write him off!! He been our best player for years and was excellent for the first half of this season.
I agree that his confidence has dipped but the guy has consistently played 50+ games for the last 5 seasons which have always ended in failure. He is probably knackered and his creativity has lost 1-2% of its edge and he has therefore struggled lately.
He'll be back and fresh as ever after a good rest and pre-season

Just watch him next season, he'll be amazing in the Prem, especially if Malky doesn't play him behind the back four

If he scored the last few games for us or set up a goal or 2 this thread wound'nt be made, its the same with gestede he was shit one minute as soon as he scored 2 goals against forest he was city's best player, some people are so fickle

Player in the prem tend to get more time on the ball
So Whits will do fine as long as he is played in a further position
Up the pitch . As for gustede I don't think he's the answer to a
lone striker as there's no movement in him to keep defenders on thier
Toes

Peter Whittingham, at the very least, deserves a place in the Premiership with City.
As a squad player maybe, but he deserves it, & i believe that Malky will reward his loyalty!

Peter Whittingham has over the last 4 seasons been our most used outfield player, 172 out of the possible 181 league matches, he has scored 51 goals in those matches and had 42 assists.
Throughout his time at the club he has been and continues to be a model professional who is not only admired by our manager but completely trusted.
Whitts is under contract with the club until 2016 and I have no doubt whatsoever he will play a big role in the PL next season.
And he fully deserves that.
