In The Premiership.
Malky Mackay must be ruthless, in all aspects of recruitment and retention of squad players.
Many will feel certain players deserve a chance to prove themselves on the highest stage and deservedly so. But for most of them the simple facts are they're not cut out for it or not ready for it yet.
GK
David Marshall
Joe Lewis
Both are more than capable at this level.Marsh certainly won't be over awed by the big teams and venues. He broke through the Celtic side for a baptism of fire in the Nou Camp.
Joe still has his critics at the club, but will be a resolute number 2 if required.
Full Backs.
Kevin McNaughton
Simon Lappin
Matt Connolly
Andrew Taylor
If Hudson or Marshall are battling it out for player of the season, Then Andrew Taylor for me is head and shoulders above everyone in the Most improved player category. He has, albeit with limited pressure to be challenged on his position, made a series of outstanding performances and work ethic.
Matt Connolly has been a tower of strength since his arrival from London.Competent at RB as he is as CB this kid is certainly to be used for his eagerness and upmost professionalism.Never backs down and always keen to get stuck in.
Simon Lappin for me was captured as a "Just In Case" kind of player. He has experience but was never going to seriously challenge Taylor.
McNuggets is a tricky one. His enthusiasm for the game is superb, and for what he lacks in ability he covers with work rate and passion. My heart says give him a 1 year contract for the Prem as a squad player but I can't really see him holding down a premiership place. If it is his time to go, I hope he goes to a club and gets the appreciation he deserves. One of Footballs Good guys.
Centre Half
Mark Hudson Capt
Ben Turner
Leon Barnett (if he stays)
Ben Nugent
For me the first three are capable and deserve a shot.Leon has come in and adapted brilliantly.
Outstanding performances against Watford and Barnsley especially prove he can be an asset to us in the Prem.
Hudson well, nothing really needs to be said. Who else will lead us onto the turf in the first game of the season.
Big Ben again is still young and will adapt to premiership football.
Little (big) Ben will spend a season in the Championship on loan. He won't be short of choices either.
Great potential but not ready yet.
Midfield
Arron Gunnarson
Jordan Mutch
Peter Whittingham
Kim Bo Kyung
Don Cowie
Joe Ralls
Craig Noone
Craig Conway
Gunnar Mutch Kim and possibly Noone are all no brainers. Whilst the first three will be pushing for a first team spot Noone will have more freedom in the prem. Not a Starter but squad for sure.
Whitts has shown tremendous loyalty to the team and fans. And he still has a tremendous left peg.But I feel he may struggle in the prem.He hasn't hit the highs as he once did and although he has been played out of position because of Mutch's injury, When Whitts has plays higher up he has had little impact.
Conway will be moved on. He stepped up when given the chance but he is not a prem player for me.
Don aka Son of Malky. I can honestly see Malky keeping Don and eventually him becoming a fitness coach or something.
He wouldn't sack his son now would he?
Joe is another player who will be loaned out.
Forwards
Joe Mason
Rudy Gestede
Nicky Maynard
Craig Bellamy
Fraizer Campbell
Tommy Smith
Heidur Helguson
Ettien Where's Wallykonjia
It's obvious despite Nickys injury but £5.5m for Both Campbell and Maynard was shrewd buisness IMO. Both will feature in the prem.Rudy will Get loaned out but not for the whole season.
Tommy and Heidur will both be shipped out and replaced.
Ettien may well spend the Season in the DVP squad but I can't see him being happy about it.
Bellers is like Hudson a no brainer.. And Joe may be kept to gain experience.

everyone should be given a chance in my opinion, they all deserve until at least January to see if they can cut it!... only players i could say i wouldnt mind see going are Lappin and Heidur (think the prem is to much for him now, even tho i do like him)

Malky knows how tough he needs to be.
He's been through it himself as a player with 3(?) promotions to the PL and on each occasion he was then bombed.
Whatever he has to do he will do (he won't want be to another Atkins/McDermott).
Whatever he has to do will probably be done in the right way.

We have to remember its not like the champ where you can loan in all you want for most of the season. We need a squad.
We deffo need another keeper and IMO someone to try and challenge Marshall. Lewis I haven't seem a lot of but haven't been impressed. 100% we need another keeper.
Fullback we need a first choice RB then someone who back is up at LB or RB.
CB at least two CB's
Midfield I'm not sure, I think one wide player and a CM
Upfront at least two forwards
