New Fans

Wed Apr 17, 2013 6:19 pm

A fella in work who supports Liverpool came in this morning with a Cardiff City top on! He said he no longer supports Liverpool as he is now supporting his home town. I wonder how many Cardiff City fans are going to suddenly appear from nowhere as I'm sure this is not an isolated incident.

And we should welcome each and everyone of them.

Yes, I agree with you Gwyn - we need to make sure that the next generation has no local fans supporting plastic "big" teams, as they all grow up supporting us :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

This

Feel free to take the piss out of the type of fan you mention in the OP, you'll always have that on him, but it's another potential
£500 a year for our club and a new member of the singing section, happy days

yeah but we obviously didnt choose to support cardiff for success, there just glory hunters

The thing is he has been saying all season we would stuff it up and I even bet him a fiver we would go up. The day after we go up he's suddenly a Cardiff City Supporter. Yes I admit any new fan is good for the club, but it sickening to see people supporting us purely because we're in the Premier league, when they never gave a toss beforehand.

There will always be new fans. Two things though:

1. The fans of this generation and previous ones can say they were there when cardiff got promoted.

2. If we get relegated, the amount of season ticket holders that renew, and the attendance, will show the real fans.

The likelihood is they have probably never been to any games ours or their "first" club, but as you know we have a way of getting under your skin and hooking you forever......
