Promotion for Eddie May

Tue Apr 16, 2013 10:00 pm

A year on from his death I couldn't help but think about him tonight and how proud he would have been if he was here to see it. His son, Paul was in the Charlton end and I am positive that he would have had a smile on his face tonight too. I hope he was allowed into the bar named after his father tonight as it was previously thought he wouldn't be.

Tonight was my favourite night down the CCS, even found myself on the pitch. Superb atmosphere all night and we can now fully relax and look forward to the premier league. To all connected with Cardiff City well done, it's been a long rocky road, enjoy it!

Hi Paul here thank you for your post it was very nice to read your comments.

I was at the game yes but in the Charlton end we were guests of the club who were fantastic with us putting us in the Synter Lounge with full hospitality, which was a fantastic gesture so our thanks go out to Barrie, Tessa and Vince.

And as I stood applauding you at the end of the game last night I had a tear in my eye but just about managed to hold it together. Earlier in the evening I did have a little wobble when just before the offside goal Eddie May's barmy army rang out around the stadium and I turned around to my partner and said that is the class of the people, hearing it was phenomenal.

It was nail biting stuff from the first minute to the last for City last night real edge of the seat stuff, would you get the point you needed or would Charlton nick one against the run of play, then there was the what was happening at Millwall element to it yet despite all that you never forgot him and I will never forget it.

Absolutely made up for you I really am, Cardiff City are now where they belong and you the fans deserve it more than any other football supporters that I know so go out now and win the league.

I have posted the

Thanks for a great post Paul, I'm so happy that the fans remembered how special Eddie was and how close to our hearts he still is. You must be a really proud man knowing what a great guy your father was.

It's no coincidence we were promoted nearly a year to the day that Eddie passed to the other side. I have no doubt he was looking down on us with that massive grin of his.

1993 was my favourite season ever, even more so than this one as I am now exiled and can't get to as many games as back then.

Eddie May = Top Man :ayatollah:

On our way home from our wembley defeat by Liverpool, the lads at the back of the coach chanted `Eddie Mays Barmy Army` all the way home..That chant always cheers me up after a defeat..

Your dad will never be forgoten down here Paul..

First started watching the city when Eddie was in charge. Brilliant times and started a love of the club I will have forever. The Eddie mays Barry army chant continued down the sports bar in canton. Man was a legend. Eddie mays Barry army.

I remember running onto the pitch before the final whistle in 1993 last home game, Shrewsbury I think. Turns out it was some dickhead in the crowd with a whistle. Good early memories, I loved Ninian park as a junior bluebird!
