I worry that we might be like Derby, and hardly win a game.
We need to be different, at the moment we just do what other (prem) teams do , but not as well and with not as good as players.
Would hate to see us getting battered week in week out , specially as my boy is so excited for the prem.

All clubs feel like that. The only difference is the EPL has big fast players (mainly African it seems) but they are no better finishing or many technically better. Our strong team work ethic will keep is going and with the addition of some quality players we will be OK.
Kimbo is looking a quality player, and along with Mutch and Gunnar we have the basics of a decent midfield.
Bellamy, Maynard and Campbell will give us pace upfront. With mason and Gestede as back up .
Just need a couple of full backs and a goalkeeper (back ups).
We will get some hammerings, but that is to be expected. By Christmas we will have adapted and kick on from there (hopefully).

fucks sake.
why are the players in our team not as good (in your opinion) as other teams who have got promoted?
we need to make sure the players we bring in are good enough, that will be a start.
we are likely to get a hammering or 2, it happens, we will almost certainly lose more than we win, it will be a lot different to the last 5 seasons where we have been up towards the top of the league more often than not.
But just enjoy it.

I think we're in the same mould as the Norwich side that Paul Lambert brought up a couple of seasons ago.. A hard working, battling side that keeps going for 90 minutes (their barrage of late goals is what eventually took them up).
My point though is that they didn't really sign anyone when they came up (Yeah, Steve Morrison but he's hardly a world beater!). They kept the bulk of their squad and the same work ethic and ground out results.
I think we'll take a very similar approach - Malky giving the majority of the squad the opportunity to prove themselves at the top level but adding the odd marquee signing.

Hoping for the best, but am fearing the worst.
Could we say we are a far better team than Reading or QPR?
We only have to be 4th worst to stay up mind.
Tue Apr 16, 2013 11:10 am
This means a lot to VT's plans for the club and he will invest where Malky sees fit.
I'm not worried, Another 4-5 additions to the team / squad should see us ok.
Tue Apr 16, 2013 11:13 am
I don't think that Malky or Tan will allow that, the hardest thing was getting promoted from now on it's upwards and onward.

id say, with our current team right now, we would give the bottom 6 or 7 a decent run

exactly what I thought - oh no, Paxman's got a new account

It's a strange one eh? QPR threw truckloads of money at success and they look doomed, on the other hand, you could accuse Reading of not doing enough in the transfer market.
Personally I think it's down to sensible management from top to bottom, I won't share my thoughts on your Chairman because I think you've covered that enough, but (Through gritted teeth) Malky MacKay seems like a good manager, if he has 100% say on team matters then I think you've got a fighting chance.
Keep your expectations realistic, don't panic when you go through a bad spell (It will probably happen at some point), and remember that anything above 18th place is deemed a good first season.
The record Derby set will take some beating...if it ever gets broken.

What a crazy post!!
You don't believe the finishing is better in the premier league

Make a mistake in the prem and it is punished more often than not. If you truly believe that the standard of finishing is the same in the champ then you are in for one hell of a rude awakening!
Not sure where your "most of the fast players are African" comes from either. In fact I struggle to think of any incredibly quick Africans. Here is the premier leagues fastest starting 11...

I know what you are saying mate, but there is a part of me that would prefer to see us competing well in the champ, rather than going to the game expecting a battering week in week out in the prem.
Believe me, there is nothing I want more for us than to do well, and regain our rightful place as the best team in Wales, but its hard to be optimistic sometimes as its very hard for the new boys to survive

I thought I was Roathy? Or are we both Roathy meaning I'm Eric from Ely? Or am I off the hook? Or are neither of us Roathy?
Quite a dilemma.

i use Roathy as the generic term for any swansea fan proclaiming to be a cardiff one. such as yourself, regardless of weather you are the same person or not.

So neither of us are Roathy?
Thanks for clearing that up
