I think that Mackay is an excellent manager, but if you win promotion to the Premier League that is not enough. The Cardiff team are not strong enough for the top flight. Put it simply, how many of their players would get in our team? Has Mackay the contacts to get enough players in relatively cheaply to survive or do they need to spend big. I don't think he has the contacts so we must look at the latter, Tan promised a £50M war chest that was then reduced to £20M-£25M is that including wages or transfers only, if you spend that on players you can treble it with wages and signing on fees. With a club £80M to £100M in debt depending who you listen too, the future is not as bright as some may believe. They may have reached the Premier League and found the Golden Egg only to find it broken into tiny pieces. Tomorrow night, strange as it may seem could be the final nail in the coffin.
What a know it all muppet

A lot of sense in that thread.

They are acknowledging that we are on the verge if promotion but raising the point that the team needs severe strengthening and are still a long way behind them. They are sitting 9 points outside the top 6 with a major trophy win, world class players and European qualification.

Relegation with the amount of debt we have could be disastrous as an instant return is no way guaranteed, ask wolves.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves.

It's fact rather than opinion so I'm not entirely sure what you are getting at?

Do you disagree chuckles? Surprised by that to be honest.

Ashley Williams is probably the best Center back in the league at the moment and is the subject of a £10 million bid by arsenal and Liverpool. Michu is the highest scoring Spanish players in any of the top leagues and widely tipped for a call up to the most successful international side in the history of football. Only Suarez and van Persie has scored more than him in the premier league.

Yes I do disagree.

Williams is over-rated, never mind "world class" - in fact, I'd say Taylor & Davies for them have much more potential.

Michu hasn't even got an international cap, so cannot be considered world class to me.

In fact, the one player I think that COULD end up in your world class bracket, you've missed out & that's Vorm. A class act, no doubt about that.

Fantastic, I happen to disagree. Still - world class? :laughing6:

As I say, Michu isn't - not even got an international cap. If he was world class, he would have done by now. No doubts that he's done very well, but putting him as world class at the moment is jumping the gun a little.

I don't think you can state if someones world class or not depending on if they have an international cap. He has out scored every Spanish attacking player in the top leagues, he can do no more. Last season he was the highest scoring Spanish midfielder in the top leagues. If del bosque wants to stick with players at big clubs then that's his choice but you can't base your judgement on one mans view of him. He's third top goal scorer in the premier league level with Gareth bale.

Vorm is probably world class too you're right, he's apparently a target of Barca to replace Valdez. As for Williams I think he has the best block and tackle rate in the premier league. There's no doubt he's world class, that's 3 players. That's pretty damn good for a club posting tens of millions of profit since getting there.

I think you can. If he was world class, he would have been capped by now - they've had ample opportunity, and have come to watch him a few times.

He's a captain of a country playing on the world stage with the best defensive stats in the best league in the world. Not much more to say.

I'm not sure how anyone can say Michu isn't world class.

I have. You use the fact that Williams is playing for his country on the world stage is prt of the reason for being "world class" - yet then say the fact that Michu hasn't played international football doesn't make any difference. :laughing6:

But whether he's called up or not is down to one man and one man only. It's bizarre to place your opinion on him on that, that's illogical and not like you in fairness.

Williams is definately world class. He plays in the best league in the world and has the best defensive statistics on tackles and interceptions - how can he be anything other than world class.

We have no idea who wants him. We only know who wants him via what is made public. So far that's Arsenal who bid £9m in January and got rejected and Liverpool who think they will sign him for £12m.

I gave it as "part" of the reason, not "the" reason. I wasn't basing my opinion solely in his international caps.

The reason Williams is world class is the fact he has the best defensive stats in the best league in the world. Simple as that.

As for Michu he's unfortunate to be Spanish that play one striker and their midfield includes xabi alonso, iniesta, xavi and silva.

Re: Jack bitterness

Premiership isn't the best league in the world anymore & Williams is not the best defender in it.

All opinions of course, although the way you are talking here it's as if they are firm facts.

Illogical for you maybe. For me, it's illogical that a player can be described as world class, yet has no international caps.which you seem to go along with as using the fact that Williams plays international football as part of the reason that he's allegedly "world class".
