Yes he did along with Callaghan , but it was a manged with the NUM (albeit not always) generally onside and jobs outside the industry were plentiful, but what Thatcher did was just throw them onto the benefit system where many are still there today, not just the pits but the small companies that the NCB used to supply them for components their jobs went as well. And to make a point the 3 of them were wrong to close the deep mine pits throughout the UK. Which we are paying for today with oil prices.

Got to say,i thought she done well and put some pride back in to this country.
Just look at the state we are in now!muslims do and say what they want,europe walk all over us with there human rights.
What she did to the unions needed to be done because they were killing this country with there strikes.
We lost our car industry because we could not fill orders in time because of strikes,and as for the coal in most pitts it cost twice as much to get out of the ground the we sold it for ffs.
And all the unions leaders did was call a strike and wile the workers relied on soup and handouts they were going home to there well maintained life style?.
Look at the twats we have had since and state we are in with muslims taking the pis and forcing there laws on us(at least with thatcher we were proud to be british and not affraid to say ot)
