Giving a friend your ST

Mon Apr 15, 2013 11:37 am

I am not sure where I stand with this.

If I am away for the Bolton game and my wife or friend take my two kids and use my ticket will they get in , what happens when as he has started to do lately the steward asks to see the season ticket ?

Is it my ticket to gift to whoever I want as long as no resale is involved ?

Can't see anything wrong in that. At the end of the day its a bum on a seat already paid for.

Officially, the ticket is non-transferable. If the same class of ticket is being used, it shouldn't be a problem though & rarely is.

Eg Adult must use an Adult ticket)

When I attended the new stadium seminar in 2008 I and others were told that while giving your ST card to someone else was techincally against the terms and conditions, in practise the club would turn a blind eye to anyone doing so and to add to that I have done it on one occasion this season without any problems.

The stewerds are just checking your using correct turnstyle or entering the right part of the ground.

Aslong as the person using the ticket is the same price band its ok, example; adult going in on an adult. if your trying to get an adult in on a childs ticket and they stop you they take the ST off you and you have to go to the ticket office at a later date to get it back after you have paid the difference in price.

A friend of mine passed away 2 seasons a go and his wife gave me his season ticket to use to take a friend for the rest of the season and the stewards never had a problem with it as it was an adult price ST

That is what I remember them saying at the time, I have missed 1 game this season so I gave my card to my brother in law, i thought was fine and no problems at the end of the day :ayatollah:

What if its say a 16-21 year old using an adult season ticket?

Well that would be fine as youve paid more than you would have if you bought a match day ticket and id imagine its the same if a childs trying to go in on an adult ticket

I used my missus dads ticket a few seasons ago and he's in the "concession OAPs" band. They stopped me at the turnstile, confiscated the ticket and sent it to him along with a bill of about £15 to pay the extra for an adult ticket.

Yes, same here, I've missed one game this season and gave my card to a friend and no problems :ayatollah:

So if someone used a 16-21 year old as a one off as an adult how would they know unless checked going though turnstyles ??

If an adult tries to go through the turnstiles on a 16-21 card then the 'traffic light' on the otherside of the turnstyle would be orange+green instead of just green. If you dont look 16-21 te stewards will pull you to one side and prob send you round to the ticket office to pay the difference.

When you go through the turnstiles, the stewards are looking at the light colours, just to see that no adults try to get in using concessionary tickets. When you go up the steps to the seats, they just try to point you in the right direction. In my experience, the stewards are very helpful.

Its fine as long as this guys not a nutter and the trouble comes back to your seat number  ive given mine/sons away a few times this season to a friend due to me working away and can not make games or he wants to take his lad with him and my sons not gone so i get a ticket elsewhere then for him/son to sit together but you be fine :ayatollah:

I have a 16-21 ticket and it just says adult on the card. I've always assumed they were too lazy to bother with differences in those two. Especially as it's just a continuation of the old student tickets.

In Florida and missing all the fun???? It must take a lot to keep you entertained, mate! :laughing6: :laughing6:

Actually, I know what you mean. I have the same dilema in September when we are in The Premiership and I'll need to find something to occupy my mind out there, so I think I'll be ok...just!

Enjoy your hols and I can recommend the Cirque du Soleil in Downtown Disney as a holiday highlight :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I always get ticket office to issue paper ticket for game, do it every game can't make, if can't go to ticket office if you ring can be left to be picked up on match day. Simples!

The old student season tickets also showed up as green and orange on the turnstile traffic light. It was classed as a 'concession' ticket.

The ticket office will upgrade it to a full adults ticket on a game by game basis if the person using it pops in before the game.

is an adult concession the same as a childs...i've got an adult consession season ticket off my mate who can't make it tomorrow for my daughter who is 15 to use, is the light system the same for all concessions?

Re: Giving a friend your ST

Mon Apr 15, 2013 6:58 pm

It's no problem, my sister and dad have shared a season ticket for years because it suits them.

The only problem is it an adult tries going through on a child's ticket, in that case they need to pay the difference.
My dad could get an oap season ticket but he paid half an adult one so others can use it.

Nver appears to be an issue but (in safe mode) you can ask the club to issue a paper ticket on your behalf :ayatollah:

Asked the ticket office only the other day....you are allowed to give your seat to anyone you wish, you've paid for it.

Like people have said....the ST holder as got to be the same category though if not you upgrade....downgrade you take the loss.
