Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies told Forest Player that Cardiff’s strength from set pieces showed in their 3-0 win this afternoon.
A hat-trick of headers - one from Heidar Helguson and two from second-half substitute Rudy Gestede put the game beyond Forest, who had been disadvantaged by the dismissal of Darius Henderson before the break.

And Davies was disappointed that his side weren’t able to combat their opponents’ aerial prowess.

He said: “We talked to the players about Cardiff - they’ve scored about 30 goals from set plays this season. All three of their goals came that way today.

“They scored their first when we were beginning to control the game and we had a great chance to make it 1-1 but missed the opportunity. Then we went down to ten men. As soon as that happened, against a Premier League squad, it was always going to be very difficult.

“To then lose our centre half and be forced into making another substitution made it even more of a challenge for us.

“I’ve told the lads to put this result aside and get ready for the next four matches.”
