VINCENT TAN AND SAM HAMMAM

Fri Apr 12, 2013 12:36 pm

I find it very strange bordering on unbelievable how sam hammam is hero worshipped by supporters on here but hate vincent tan ..... people need to go and see a specialist to see if theres a brain there honest to god .... one is a day dreamer and the other is a dream maker .... one nearly sent us into oblivion and the other is sending us to the premier league .... one wanted to change our name while the other mentioned it too ... one changed our badge the other one did too .... AM I FECKING MISSING SOMETHING HERE? ..... i`m not an highly intelligent man and left school with feck all, but even i can see this sam hammam loving is complete bullshit!

Some very good points there. When you put it like that it does seem strange how people have such different attitudes to the 2 men.

i know the obvious reason .... one pretended to be every ones friend [or was he] and the other as got his own friends and dont need people sucking up to him! .... we are just supporters and its time `we supporters` realised that and let vincent tan carry on doing the fantastic job he`s doing!

Both terrible for the club.

Hammam started it off with his promises and turning 4000 crowds into 18000 crowds all buying into money buys success regardless of the damage done to the club. He then left us in huge debt and 14000 of the 18000 fans all used to success. Then came Tan who spend an even greater amount of our money and even greater promises and turned 18000 crowds into 23,000 crowds - 19000 of which have only come on board since the promises and money have come in hence why there was literally no opposition to the defacing of the club - if it means a bit of success then it's all good regardless of the effect on the club.

We are now left in a situation where we are gotten by the balls of a pretty flamboyant owner with little regard for the club, in over £100m of debt with 80% of our fan base not caring about anything other than the bright lights.

People have lost all sense of what is normal. They think a chairman/owner is someone who loans the club money and the richer the owner the better it is and complain at our players and manager even though we are top. It really is an insane notion, in an insane situation at a currently truly insane club.

the langston debut??? Add that to the TAN debut, tan is doing exactly want sam was but on a massive scale

Difference is Tan has the money to back it up if need be.

Debt is only a problem when it needs to be payed back. If Tan leaves us as we are now and demands his loans back I would hold him in as much contempt as I do Sam. As Tan is currently still here then I have no issues.

That's a fair point.

Before the rebrand, there were many Anti-Tan fans, which I didn't understand to be honest.

Post rebrand, I have no respect for him at all & I wouldn't be bothered if he left. One thing that he does do well is leave the footballing matters to the footballing staff.

I just wish someone would give him some lessons in football ways of life - supporter loyalty etc (ie not comparing us to cinema goers!)

Not having a go at you but just curious of your opinion as you say.....

"As Tan is currently still here"

My worry has been what if we never made it to the premiership this year and Tans gamble/vision never paid off?, He currently has not made the debt to equity swap as was part of the package so realisticly could still do as you say and walk away if it was to fail to reach the prem leaving us crippled anyhow, or would he have another roll of the dice :|

Pointless now worrying about that scenario as we are about to get promoted.

With us getting to the premier this debt issue will take off I reckon. At the moment there is nothing in the pot to pay with and no one with any money responsible for the debts. Come the premier there will be plenty of dosh coming our way so expect the vultures to swoop down.

How will the debt take care of itself?

Swansea are one of the most prudent, if not THE most prudent club in the league and if they didnt have player sales they would only have made a profit of £5m.

Our wage bill is likely to be around £15m more than theirs with their top earner probably being on what our top earner is now. That will only increase on promotion.

People have a terrible misconception with regards to the premier league and the money. The fact Prem money has gone up simply means player values go up and so do wage demands.

Mmmm for the club to survive we need investment, sponsorship, increased fan base with money to buy merchandise etc. Difficult here in the west of europe with austerity, limited business and sponsors, money tight etc.

If only we had a prudent businessman who had a foot in the lucrative far east market who are the new economic powerhouses................

Re: VINCENT TAN AND SAM HAMMAM

I'm in a very exclusive club, I think both have been brilliant for CCFC. Sam Hammam said several times that someone else would have to finish the job and Tan seems to be the man.

Yes debt exists but as mentioned it only becomes and issue when someone wants it back. Much like a mortgage or business loan we have borrowed heavily to invest in our inforstructure and playing squad. That investment is about to produce its first pay off and the Premiership riches await us.

We will have to wait and see how Tan's far eastern plans go but from advertising alone I'm sure he will make a right killing next season with us in the Premiership and the exposure that offers. TV/Shirt deals are bound to follow and debt should start to fall pretty soon.

None of this would have happened if Sam Hammam hadn't taken a punt on us in 2000.

Therefore I thank the pair of them.

If we stayed blue, Tan would have been quoted as the best chairman we ever had, indeed a hero figure.
But unfortunatly he could plough in ££millions but because of his stance he for many is hated. (not that he cares) but i find it sad that our identity has been put out to pasture .
