THE BIGGEST DERBY IN THE U.K.

Wed Apr 10, 2013 7:00 pm

Would still be Rangers and Celtic, but sadly more to do with religion and history, and now a raririty unless the cup draws them together.

But south of Hadrians wall , I would say hopefully as of next season, it will be us and the Jacks.
A number of reasons, just the right distance apart with a slight overlap in some areas, a bit like Leeds and Man U in their heyday.
In my opinion clubs that are to close together lose a bit of that "edge" needed to keep the tension there, to own up, I do have the odd Jack acquaintance, but I wouldn't want to work and socialise with too many too often, nice to keep a bit of edge to it.

Most other famous derbies, liverpool-Everton, Spurs- Arsenal, Man U- City, and quite a few others no longer have that edginess which made it so tense, it's all a bit sterile now, and I'm not advocating violence, but most fans will know where I'm coming from.

Anyway, back to the original point I was trying to make, next year's derby will catch the attention worldwide and it will be rightly built up into a great rivalry and derby, and to think it will be in the Premiership is amazing. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think that's a fair assessment.

I take it you didnt tune into the Manchester derby on Monday night Gwy?

If you think that fixture has lost its edge you must have had the tv on mute,
or need to turn your hearing aid up :old:

I hate this opinion some of our fans hold. Like Polo I also noticed the intensity at the match on Monday. I got 3 Manc mates, all reds and they say the derby is as passionate as it's ever been despite the money. A massive derby on and off the pitch and it kicks off from time to time even now. Its a much more divided City than most on here would believe. I

Our derby is no more special than the South Coast derby, the East Anglia derby, the black country derby and the North east derby. Most have taken place in the lower divisions and the Welsh cup. Gwyn, if you think one punch will be thrown next seasons (Not you on pro blues) derby then you need your head checked. It's the most STERILE derby in the country, the old bill wrap it up.

Half of you has been hoolies always say the Jack don't have a firm so for the life of me can't see how its that intense.

I really do think the Derby with the biggest edge is ours by a Country mile. Rangers Celtic have played each so many times it seems like (Coz i haven't experienced it) it has lost it edge. For ours it's not about numbers its the hatred and the sheer wanting to win at all costs. In some ways our fans next season would give loosing every game if we beat them twice. The feeling when we play is of Butterflies in my stomach to the sheer wanting to kill them on and if it was possible off it  .

The Sheffield Derby sounds proper tasty if i am honest and one i would love to taste.

To be honest with you I can see why many of our fans see ours as the best derby in the country but really it's not. It's the only one we have all experienced in fairness.

Every derby is the same, we aren't more special than the others.

What other Derby has the restrictions we have old Man  But ours is defo the most volatile. Our supporters could never walk to the game together and i take into account the Scarfers in this. Even then it would be a riot :D

I still shudder to think what the play off final would've been like had we beat Reading 2 seasons ago

Most derbies actually. And thats more to do with our reputation than theirs. You always say the Jacks don't have a firm or fans. I say ours is just as special as the others.

you havn,t sampled blues -villa mate.when we knocked them out the league cup on the way to winning it the atmosphere was white hot.the following league game the old bill and stewards ringed the pitch where blues fans were ten minutes or so before the end of the game.this was to stop anyone running on and steaming up to the away end.there is no love lost mate believe me

As much as i love playing the jacks YOUR all dreaming if you think its a big game.Outside Wales no one gives a f about us.This is why with the both of us playing in the premier its 2 against 18, its time for us to bite them all on the ass .
We can show the world that WALES is not just a dot on the english map, but that we have 2 PREMIER SIDES amongst the best 20 teams in england. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

If im not mistaken?is the soulth wales derby the first and still the only bubble derby?.
And its the inly game were away fans have had total bans.
All this when we have allways played in the lower leages small crowds.
What would it have been like with 20k crowds and away fans could buy tickets at will and make there own way?.
Be great

Was the ban lifted after 5 years?im not sure but only to be a bubble trip for the last 16 years.
