FAO VINCE ALM REGARDING THE DRUM

Wed Apr 10, 2013 5:24 pm

Vince,

I support your suggestion of bringing back the drum to help the atmosphere within the stadium, as you know I sit in the family stand with my daughter and other friends and family.

I think it would be a good idea to have the drum in the Family stand, the Canton and the Ninian stands have no problem getting going but the Family stand is very different, they need someone to lead them, a leader so to speak and I think you and the drum could be just the thing to get it going, it may be that it will help the youngsters to clap along or even get more of us singing in the stand.

I am sure the kids will love it, they love singing, chanting and clapping but I think they need guidance.

I am not suggesting that the family stand start the singing going but maybe the drum could pick up from where the Canton or Ninian start and escalate their choice of chants through to the family stand.

When the whole stadium is singing nobody can dispute that the place does rock.

I watch the kids at away games and once they get going they love to join in and keep it going.

Your drum maybe the catalyst for bringing a better atmosphere to the stadium, I really think it is worth a go, what do you think?

Regards

Carl

What a fantastic Idea that!!

I disagree with you regarding certain areas having no problem getting the atmosphere going!!

There is a real problem and it hurts me every home game :(

The amount of empty seats in the family stand we could bring the London philharmonic in to improve the atmosphere

A big of this to be honest....as long as the drum isn't anywhere near me I couldn't care less.

You should focus more on the probelm of stay away babys in the family stand. Making the Family stand smaller would help and then allow real supporters to fill up the empty seats.

Great idea, the kids don't really know what to do.

Peterborough was my 11 year old daughters first game and she couldn't believe the buzz, she even for the first time this season gave it a go last night and loved it.

They need to get a real drummer and a group of energetic (drama types)kids to teach them the songs before the games.

Not sure why everyone is moaning, last night was quite good...

"The blues are going up !!!!"

grat idea, would love it asni always join in and others around me with chants, but I fear being so close to the away fans they might take more advantage of it than the family stand

No mate, I thought he would be keeping an eye on the board as he asked a question about the drum on here but I have since read that his daughter gave birth today so I think he will be spending time with his family and Grandson :ayatollah:

When I saw Vince's suggestion to bring back the drum, my first thought was why not put it in the family stand ? !

..... and then you also go an suggest it.

I agree the kids will love it, and I shall be taking ear plugs just in case !

As long as that kid behind me doesn't keep time to the rhythm by kicking the back of my seat again. :D

Re: FAO VINCE ALM REGARDING THE DRUM

The drum also helps with the tempo to chant the songs. You get people singing it at different speeds an then the chant sounds awful. A big fan of this, could do with it in the Canton as well, only the lads at the back chanting majority of the time, until they start banging on something, which I can only imagine being the metal boards of the stadium, that sounds remotely like a drum, do people down the front join in.

I would love to have what the European teams such as Dortmund, and Besiktas (hell even some MLS teams) have a group of lads at the front with drums and shit, like conductors. Sounds stupid, but it generates fantastic atmosphere :ayatollah:

The best place for drums is the family end , about time the kids were heard shouting . If you want them to come again give them something to shout about all kids love to shout make a noise .Going back 50 years plus when i was a kid we used to shout 2468 who do we appriciate CARDIFF CARDIFF CARDIFF.In the boys enclosure.
Let the future Bluebirds learn how to support there team now with some passion before its to late.If they want to be quiet send them to the grandstand or the ninian where all the old farts moan every game.
Before anyone haves a go i am 59 :old: still shout like hell all game.Old grange enders never fade away. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
